Making me smile is the news that everything went well with my friend's 2-month-early caesarian section a few hours ago. I'm so relieved. The baby will need to spend several weeks in an incubator so it will no doubt be a challenging time for his mum and dad though.
They're both Uruguayan (she has a teaching placement at the University and her husband came here with her) but they've given him a Scottish name, Liam.

(As far as I'm aware, his middle name isn't Forlan

)
This good news was very much needed - yesterday evening I learned that one of my favourite Great Uncles died, following a 3-week illness. He was a priest (very well known in Montevideo), and had conducted every family wedding, funeral and baptism for half a century. He actually baptised me when I went on my first trip over there at 11 months old. I've only had the chance to see him on four visits since then, most recently last August. I'm feeling sad of course, but enjoying the happy (and precious - as there weren't enough) memories.
