Should Fabio Capello take David Beckham? I would take him for his experience, I think he has something to offer. Certainly not in the starting 11 to begin with, but for experience, for someone who can go on and help England win a game, or save a game, I would take him.

You may not want to ask Alan Shearer if he should take Wayne Rooney given the news coming out of Italy tonight...

Up until the point where he wrecked his achilles, I'd have said definitely. Now the decision has been taken out of Capello's hands.

 The Bill in 1988 was great, you had Frank Burnside, Ted Roach, Tosh Lines, Miek Dashwood, Jim Carver, Bob Cryer, June Ackland, Viv Martella, Taffy Edwards, Reg Hollis, Tony Stamp, etc. and nope I'm not Matt Fincham, I don't like The Bill much these days, but back then it was excellent, brings back memories of me as a kid watching the Bill :)

Tosh Lines had a drink problem, Frank Burnside had a behaviour problem, Ted Roach was a wanker, Jim Carver got demoted from CID back to uniform and June Acklund couldn't cope with the fact that she wasn't young and pretty, even though she kind of thought she ought to be. That's all I remember.

I remember those halcyon days of The Bill too :) isn't the actor who played Tosh Lines dead now? Actually I had a terrible crush on one of the younger policemen in it when I was about 14, but I can't for the life of me remember the character name.

Not meaning to be picky, but surely if that was making them smile then they would know whither or not it was a him or a her? To be honest, that sounds like someone just making something up to me. I don't think it was making them smile at all!

See - that's why I deal with fraudsters.

Slightly wrong, Frank Burnside was a wanker, Ted Roach was just misunderstood  Actually I give Ted Roach a lot of respect, as he punched the then smug Monroe in the gob before sodding off :D

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark with this (not really knowing individual womens tastes), was it PC Melvin:

EDIT: Forgot to add, sadly Kevin Lloyd who played Tosh died in 1998, he died a week after he was sacked from the show due to his chronic alcholism. As far as I know all the other actors are still alive.

Is it just me but that photo looks like a young Callum Stone?

I love the Bill, then and now. I used to have a crush on PC Nick Klein (Rene Zagger) many years ago. The old ones tend to be on Alibi now I think.

I cannot for the life of me remember who it was I liked from The Bill. I tried looking at the cast on imdb, but they're not in any order and there are sooo many of them. I need to watch some old episodes obviously.

Thanks Johnny - found him! PC Pete Ramsey. Only in it for a year - 1988-89, so I was 14. Died a hero's death, shot whilst protecting 'Tosh' Lines during a bank robbery *sniff*
