I trhink I am probably the oldest (sorry, I know you're right, but it feels wrong!) - I was a punk back in the late seventies (a very young one) too, and I am always amazed at the music which gets called "punk" today. Anyone who saw Stiff Little Fingers in 1978 is going to think that Green Day would be okay to buy for your granny......! Not that I don't like Green Day, I do, especially their drummer who is amazing. But interestingly enough, the band from that era which has become my lifelong favourite, who I think are absolutely the best I have ever heard or seen, is not a punk band at all, although they were definitely spawned in that era. And that is The Jam. Paul Weller has done some horrible cheesy stuff since, but The Jam were - and are - sublime. And Bruce Foxton toured with Stiff Little Fingers in 2000, I saw them at a mini festival in Clovelly (The Stranglers were headlining!) so that was a brilliant gig for me!
