Like I say that was tried to an extent with All New TOTP. With Top Gear it's a motering show can talk about any aspect of cars and motering. Although TOTP is a music show, it's specifically about tthe charts because of the name and what it is synonimous with as it's been going so long. Because of that people wont accept a show with any real tangent from the charts and the countdown and because the brand is so well established it would be too hard and risky to divert from it - hence why "all new" failed. The best thing would be to create an entirely new franchise with chart based music but different features - maybe a humerous twist ala Top Gear. Call it "World of Pop" or the catchier "Popworld" maybe...

Who knows, maybe TOTP could come back with new features, more fun appealing to music fans in the same way Top Gear appeals to motoring fans. Let's face it there's more to pop acts etc than just the tunes ... there's a whole world to explore
