The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

if only for a short time, from todays Guardian online.

Heart has signed up former BBC Radio 1 DJ Emma B to host a new weekend programme and deputise on its Jamie Theakston breakfast show.
Radio and television presenter Emma (real name Battersby), who most recently presented the Sunday Surgery advice show on Radio 1, joins Chrysalis' London station after it recorded a disappointed set of ratings figures.

Heart lost the London ratings crown to Capital, with Heart's listening hours plummeting from 15.6m to 11.2m quarter-on-quarter and Theakston's debut on the breakfast show seeing 199,000 listeners switch off, albeit after a quarter in which his predecessor Jono Coleman achieved a record figure.

Emma B will join Theakston when his co-presenter, Harriet Scott, goes on holiday at the end of August. She will also host what Chrysalis calls "a variety of weekend shows".

Mark Browning, the programme director at Heart, said she was one of the UK's most credible radio presenters, adding that "her upbeat and an engaging style further strengthen Heart's 30-something on-air team".

Emma B secured her first national radio show on Radio 1 back in 1998, presenting the early morning show on Saturdays. She went on to co-present a Saturday afternoon show with Sara Cox as well as deputising for Steve Lamacq and Chris Moyles.

Emma B and Jamie Theakston will only appeal to couples who had high powered jobs in the 90's and really loved life.................but now have 6 screaming kids and are permantly stressed and their sex life a ruin.
This may be a large amount of people but it probaly ain't Moyles' audience.
Heart FM is for 30somethings (ie 40 year olds)

I liked Emma B the DJ, she was good on Sunday Surgery and the other shows she did... Emma B the crap model was annoying though.

Hmm I'm sure Chris will be sh*tting himself at this news.

Emma B has always been dull. Glad Radio 1 got rid of her.

I thought she was OK when she covered some of Chris's weeks off back in the Afternoon Show days. Better than some of the competition like Nemone.

She's actually one of the few who left Radio 1 of their own accord...

do you have details of her leaving?

I cant believe radio 1 were that desperate to keep her.

Yeah - she chose to leave the station, she wasn't pushed. To be fair the only gig she had was the Sunday Surgery - she'd lost all her depping jobs quite some time ago.

She still fills in for shows on 6Music and works for the BBC World Service.
