Anyone think it would be a good idea for Moyles to go on QI or another panel show such as mock the week

He should do his own show and maybe be the captain of a team... oh...

No offence to Chris if he's reading, but he's not quick enough to be on QI.

I love Chris, and I love QI, but I don't think the two would work very well together

No, sorry I think some of you are wrong.
Chris who maybe isn't the brightest, went to state school, with a bit of Leeds accent, up against Stephen Fry who has an amazing mind, and who went to public school and with a 'posh' accent!
That would be great TV, I can just amagine Mr. Fry with his head in his hands now.

While we are talking QI (which I love).
the week before last it taught me a little more of a local legend.
That of William Dampier, who invented several words, and 'lent a hand' to the writing of both Gullivers Travels and Robinson Crusoe....... The Yeovil Weatherspoons is called the William Dampier after the first Mayor of the town, the same privateer mentioned on QI.
Well I was fascinated :P

I'm sorry, but it would be appalling. Does nobody remember him on Buzzcocks?

I think his performance on Buzzcocks was more to do with the fact that Mark Lemarr had been viciously and personally rude to him for the whole day of rehearsal and filming, and I don't think Moyles is the type to pretend he is chums with someone and grin and make their show look good who he dislikes as much as he did Lemarr. Mark Lemarr deliberately engineered a situation (and had plenty of input into the editing) to make Chris Moyles look like a gormless idiot. I was in the studio for much of that day, and it was horrible, and embarrassing and painful. Mark Lemarr was never one of my favourite people before that day, afterwards I think any respect I had for him as a professional also disappeared.

I'm watching QI now, I love it - I think Chris would be fine, I'd love to see him on there.

I think he could be good on QI. His confidence on TV has gone up I think.

How come? Did you work on the show or something?

The difference with Qi and other "panel shows" is that the game is usually played exlusivly with comedians - and if not Comedians then people who have cut their teeth on panel shows for years like Clarkson. Moyles doesn't fit into this catagory unfortunatly

No, I used to do work for a management firm, they represented most of the weirdo's in the identity parade type line-ups (even some of the "famous" ones!). My brother was working on the show also, and a combination of events meant I was there that day. I wasn't doing anything official, or even useful!

Ah the line-ups were great (in the days when Buzzcocks was good; Sean Hughes was still on it, etc. Not that Bill Bailey isn't good, just Buzzcocks isn't the same without Sean Hughes.) I remember one huge bloke they ripped the piss out of mercilessly and then they got him back for another line-up even though he looked nothing like the celebrity!

I did enjoy watching Buzzcocks, though I can imagine Lamarr being a bastard in real life.

I went to see Buzzcocks being filmed a few times and it was an excellent show to go and watch being recorded. Lamarr seemed ok - he came out into teh audience and spoke to people for the warm up.

Plenty of people who, unlike me, actually know him have told me Mark Lamarr is a nice guy, and I'm sure he is. But he made such a terrible impression that day - without the opportunity to meet him again and find out for myself that there is another side to him, it will be hard for me to change my mind! I've always enjoyed the show though, all that notwithstanding.
