That schedule just wouldnt work.
I think things are FINE at the moment- and if it ain't broke dont fix it! However, you could of said that in 2002 (and that was the start of the massive ratings decline before the Brekkie Revoultion).
The only thing I see possibly changing before the end of the year is that Jo Whiley will quit. Leaving Sara Cox to take over her slot and 1-4 weekends to be filled with some new life. Possibly (3rd time I've Said This) Simon Amstell and Miquita Oliver?
Its their last Popworld this Saturday!

Words cannot describe how much of a bad thing it would be to bring Sara Cox back to weekdays (seriously, i just sat here for 5 mins trying to put it into words).

Those 2 idiots from Popworld who think they're funny are terrible aswell.

What about putting some real radio talent on rather than trying to get people to listen off the back of previous TV work.

newsbeat idea at 6am came from XFM which i listened to this morning...they have a thing called X-world which is a light hearted look at the news...it has music most of the way through...they then do not have any news through breakfast with Lauren Lavernes show

Agree with the popworld point completly..
If radio 1 did what they did with JK and Joel it would be a superb way to go about business...
Of course we know JK and Joel came from Key 103 in Manchester so i am thinking they should look at local radio stations again...as it seems to work when ou gt people who have worked together before to do it on a bigger stage..

True ..she is awful...but Christian O'Connell was just as bad!

But can you see the point that if they did that you would have more of the breakfast show itself...i mean Moyles currently looses what about 15-20 minutes a day on newsbeat

I disagree completely, Radio 1 obviously believe that the news is an important part of their output. When Sara Cox was on wasn't the new even more frequent than on Moyles? For people driving to work switching on the Radio at various times it wouldn't benefit them to have one news segemnt as people wake up and tune in all the way.........through the show.

Plus Dom and Carrie wouldn't be a part of the team then and Dom produces some hilarious moments.

Im not saying the news isnt vital but it doesnt need to be every half an hour

Dom is a member of the team and yes does make some classic moments but hed stil be in the bulding if i remember correctly because currently he does 6:30 news as well as Jo Whileys 10:30 news

Its already every hour. On most stations the news is more frequent at breakfast as thats the time most people listen to the radio and the time most people want to find out some news. It's only 3 bloody minutes for goodness sake.

Coxy had news at 7, 7.15, 7.45, 8, 8.15, 8.30, 8.45, 9.00 and 9.30.
Whilst Moyles has it at 7.00, 7.30, 8.00, 8.30 and 9.30.
And I can imagine getting rid of the News at 9am in favour of Tedious Link was a big decision by Radio 1 bosses. Maybe Aled could comment on that?

Doubt it. I wouldn't class 9am as breakfast anymore. By not having news at 9am anymore, its getting into the news schedule for the rest of the day, i.e news on the half hour.

and the reason the news is on the half hour is, when R1 and R2 started, they put the news on R2 on the hour, and R1 on the half hour, so someone could always find news at least once every half hour.

I hate R1 news with a passion. I hate the way Dom goes "and the main news today... Tony Blair says something stupid" or something. IT'S NOT THE MAIN NEWS!!! Urgh it's so patronising!!

I dont mind Radio 1 news, but it is a bit patronising at times. And once you've heard one bulliten, its more or less the same script all day.
