He is successful because he is egotistical, opinionated, over the top, crude, arrogant, sexist and like "the local man off the street".

That's why I love the show anyway.. although as you can see, most of the above are very divisive - which is why more people probably hate him than love him.

People forget that "back in the day" there were a hell of a lot less radio stations. There is so much more choice this day in age that Radio 1 will never ever have the same number of listeners it had before.

You also can't compare Radio 1 to Radio 2 when it comes to listening figures. Radio 2 has a much wider target audiance, so Moyles is actually bloody brilliant considering he's not that far behind Wogan.

I think its cause he talks about stuff young people are interested in listening to. The music he plays is largely irrelevant to me. I listen for the chat.

It's banter.. People can probably relate to the things he talks about and his sense of humour. I don't really listen for the music either, because most times its a bit crap.

I listen to him because he's not your average dj who speaks a bit on the air, then lets loose with the same lame tracks back to back on a daily basis. He's ignorant, arrogant and egotistical and a lot of people like a down to earth person who is 'himself' on air.

The show's success isn't just down to him though. It's the whole team. Aled, Dave, Rach, Egghead, Carrie, Joc and Michelle the Cleaner - it's a perfect combination that works well together.

Just wish he'd stop playing that Corrine Bailey Ray tune or i'll seriously stab myself.

Would Moyles be so good if Dave wasn't around and (as of the last couple of years) Dom? I think it is the synergy of, and chemistry between, those three personally. LOVE the show anyway. They are just so funny together when they are playing off each other. Would be good to hear other people's views on this? Has anybody heard Moyles on his own?

In fact, would the show be like the awful Channel 5 show without Dave and Dom?
