Clicking this link will take you to our new chatroom where you will be able to chat to other users on the site. The main forum page shows you who is currently online. You should use your regular forum username and password to authenticate.

Haha brilliant. So if it uses message board user names and passwords, presumably it also inherits ranking status as such. Unlucky Sidders.

By the way I can't view it in IE, Firefox or Opera. Firefox and Opera open a blank page when I click log in and IE doesn't even open the pop-up, even with the pop-up blocker turned off. The pop-up page after you've logged in seems to have a JS function (showLogger()), which isn't called - if you go to logger.php, which is called by showLogger(), that calls the showLogger() function, which is not defined within that page if you see what I mean.

Also isn't it a bit insecure sending unencrypted passwords in the URL? Not that there is highly confidential information on here but still...

Then you're probably blocking port 10000, which the flash applet uses to connect to the chat server.

As long as nobody is monitoring the network traffic from your PC, not especially. It's not meant to be the login to your bank server.

And yeah, it inherits permissions from the board. Users who are moderators on the board are chatroom moderators too. This was part of the reason for the new chatroom.

On reflection, I've changed that. You now login through the flash applet directly.

If you weren't logged into the board, it will log you in. Authentication is done by the message board.

you are correct mr gaspode as you always seem to be. even creating a new user name cos it says you are still in chat when you aren't doesnt work.

It's only like in the old rooms where you could re-connect and your old name would still be in.
