The American Office with Steve Carrell.

I really expected it to be shit, but I was pleasantly surprised when I watched it. Luckily it became its own show and didn't try to just imitate the UK version.

I deeply disliked the UK version, so would have no reason to sample the USA one.

What did you dislike about it? Do you dislike Ricky Gervais in general?

I do dislike Ricky Gervais in general, but I found The Office made me cringe more than it made me laugh - and I can't think why I would want to spend time watching something that makes me uncomfortable.

It's very different. The humour is quite American & more light hearted (less awkward). I know what you mean though, shows like 'The Worst Week of My Life' are very funny - but end up stressing me out.

I've got mixed feeling towards Gervais - I think he's a deeply unlikable person on Twitter - coming across as an intelligent bigot, his stand up (after Animals) is self indulgent crap and his show with Karl Pilkington puts him across as a bully.

But I find his sitcom ideas & writing to be very good.

I used to really like the Office (UK), but mainly as RG's character reminded me of a boss I used to have in my first 'proper' job. He was terrible, in every way. RG's character emulated his errors well.

EDIT:

Golf sucks too, but dressing up in tight leather and straddling a big throbbing machine, whilst other "men" also dress in leather and straddle big throbbing machines...sounds a bit gay!

I know, we all mince around talking candles and stuff between sessions.

You'd fit right in, everyone there loves a massive prick...

You can call football a bit of gay sport the way they prance around as if they're wearing ballet shoes and cry like a 5 year old every time they get touched (this is coming from someone who likes football!)? I can appreciate golf. Anyone who couldnt at least get into the Ryder Cup for what it is... you'd have to be pretty numb. It's a classy sport unlike anything else.

Pissy? Wow, someone can't take a compliment! Ok, You'd fit right in, everyone loves a below average prick...

And I wasn't rising to it for a reason.... At the end of the day you like Football, and more specifically Man Utd, which is the epitome of 'gay'... I'll not be accepting any 'gay' criticism from someone with your lifestyle choices!

As Tunster is right, they all do ponce around and cry when they trip over a blade of grass.

I like that Chrys posts GIFs at the moment - I find it amusing and I like the quirkiness of it. And I love the American version of The Office.
And Nic, I see see where you were coming from too - I'm starting to like how you post when you sound someone out, so to speak.
Reading this last page-and-a-half has made me smile a bit. Yay!

And just as I'm finishing typing that, Huw Stephens has put RATM on. Bigger smile! :D

Actually, an update here. Huw Stephens is an actual legend. His show this afternoon has been all kinds of epic. I've not enjoyed listening to a radio show this much since Moyles left. Amazing music playlist(I'll even forgive him playing Starship) with his customary presenting awesomeness in between.

Big smile just got enormous! :D :D

Edit: YES! He's finished with some classic Bon Jovi!! :D

I don't like that either. We have gay forum members here - do you think they like people using their sexuality as a synonym for 'rubbish'?
