Last time we had a British winner of a Wimbledon Singles title was 1977 when Virginia Wade won - in the Queens's Silver Jubilee year. Is Andy Murray destined to won the men's title in her Diamond Jubilee year? Much as I dislike Murray it would be something. I don't think it will happen though.

I'm a massive Murray fan but think Federer will win in straight sets. Murray is still yet to win a set in a grand slam final in 3 appearances.

Federer knows how to win Grand Slams and I just can't see him losing. He is a fantastic sportsman, possibly the greatest living sportsman.

I have always maintained that Andy Murray will never win a grand slam title. This is probably the biggest chance he will ever have to prove me wrong. I love Federer so I hope as well as believe Murray will lose.

I suspect Murray will do ok but Federer will edge him out - considering who Murray's played this year at Wimbledon (16th,7th,5th seeds) he's had by no means an easy ride to the final (Federer has had 1st, 26th, 29th to contend with and that last one went to 5 sets so he's hardly looked all conquering). I'm not confident Murray will win but to dismiss so easily him is a little naive.

And to lower the tone, Serena Williams's arse - good lord it's perfect.

I've seen the preview of one of tomorrow morning's papers with the headline "WE'RE ALL BEHIND YOU ANDY!" I'm not. Couldn't give a rat's ass about tennis. I hate that assumed patriotism. (That should be in the annoying thread really, but as the tennis discussion is here...)

I'm not dismissing Murray's chances because I don't think he is good. I actually really like his game, its more interesting and has more variety than most of the other top players, so is often great to watch. There's just something - I don't know, I just can't see him winning a slam title. I can't put my finger on why.

On a related note - the women's doubles final just ended. It lasted about 80 minutes, of which tennis was actually played for 6 minutes and 50 seconds. We've timed men's matches before too and they are even worse in terms of time the ball is in play. The amount of time spent between points is getting ridiculous in tennis, it needs to be sorted out. Ban towels except at the change of ends. That would be a good start.

20 million. And that was just England playing. This time round it's a Jock (/Brit. It all depends on the outcome. ) so the chances of even more viewers are greatly increased because it won't just be of interest to one nation but two now.

I've heard about the legs from my late Grandad but I have a problem with it. I have never seen this mysterious mountain unless it's on the only one in the world with an Irn-Bru lake.
