because your position as a meat eater hasn't been challenged. if someone was to tell you that you were wrong for eating meat, you would say something along the lines of 'i'm allowed to make my own choices - please respect that'

Well, on this forum we generally respect each other in my experience - we often disagree about stuff, but people rib each other good-naturedly, and rarely descend into vicious insults or the like. Nobody has to stomp in demanding respect - that's just the way things are here. We aren't forced as part of the rules to be respectful to each other, but most of us manage it, and a few who haven't (need I mention Viv?) have been banned.

You all know very well that I don't agree with eating animal products, but I show respect to those who do it by not harping on about it unless specifically asked. I would like that courtesy in return - when someone calls me an idiot, they're not showing it. I don't think that is an unreasonable request. Everyone else in this discussion - including you - has managed to convey their views without resorting to name-calling. Why should I not be able to come here and expect that?

Are you saying she DID deserve to die?

I think he is actually defending her. She never did anything to harm anyone. Yeah, she went on Big Brother, acted like a bit of a prat to make a name for herself but she was a generally good person as far as I'm aware. I liked her.

Well, there was the whole racism thing. But I didn't particularly care about her either way. And yes, I also think Travis is defending her.

That whole racism thing has been argued to death as well though, and essentially one point made with that was that she was so thick that she didn't really realise what she was doing. I never particularly found reason to hate her after that and I think Shilpa Poppadom forgave her for it eventually.

Well of course you are. But basically, unless you knew or were related to her, why would you care, any more than any of us care when anyone we don't know dies? Pretending to be sad about the demise of someone who never actually affected our lives alive, and certainly won't do so dead, is just silly.

Sad about his life more than his death really, but I take your point.

To be fair I was deliberately trying to provoke a response... I was wondering whether to carry it on, but I can't really be bothered today.

I was brought up by veggie parents (Mum and Step-dad), but I am and always have been a meat eater.

I can confirm that it pissed me right off when I had some sweets given to me and taken away because of my parent’s beliefs. I used to get my mum to make me Choc spread sandwiches for my packed lunch and then swapped them for meat sandwiches. When I started secondary school, I used to buy lunch and assured my mum that I was buying bean burgers for lunch.

Then when I hit my teens it all kicked off, I one got caught cooking bacon on a camping stove on the windowsill of my bedroom! That was fun!

I understand why people would be veggies, but don’t think its fair to inflict it on meat eaters.

As for Ben...your cannibalistic tendencies are a little weird, but I understand why you like the larger ladies...less kills, more food!

Pedantic, but impressed.... All the other young Devonshire lads were sneaking off to buy some Mary-Jane, you were sidling off to meet your 'Calor Dealer'.

I wondered why I used to get bullied at school, when John and Paul would get me against the wall and John would say " Me and Paul are kicking your fat ginger * head in" and I would say "surely you mean Paul and I"

I think 'windowsill' as one word is correct, but a 'sill' on its own can be spelt with an 's' or a 'c'. I think.
