Quite often actually, I like browsing in music shops, you end up finding stuff you didn't even know was out (there were several bands that had albums out last year that I didn't even know about) and you end up discovering new bands whilst browsing around, something you don't online as you just go on a website, purchase what you want & then sod off.

What do you mean? Finding eclectic and unusual or old stuff is what the internet is FOR! A music shop only has in it what it has in it - the internet has got EVERYTHING!

The HMV up Oxford Street is huge I can spend an hour and half browsing through their CD & DVD ranges, suffice to say also I have had to wait 2-3 weeks now for something I've bought online whereas if I go up to HMV I can walk in, pay for it, take it home & enjoy it.

I can see Johnny's point more than Yuds as I tend to pick up odd things in shops rather than online, I'm more impulsive when I have cash in my hand and I can see interesting/pretty/sparkly things in front of me than online. I find online shopping a bit long winded at times.

Exactly, when I shop online I shop for what I want, when you walk into HMV or independent shops your eye casts over loads albums by all different artists, for that reason I ended up buying CD's by The Dead 60's, Tokyo Police Club & Muse.

I ordered something on Thursday night off Amazon, had an email on Friday morning saying it had been dispatched and it turned up before lunchtime yesterday. Thats just over 24 hours! AND that was with the basic post option.

The only time I would need something straight away is if I had forgotten to get someone else a present. Otherwise, HMV can screw off.

Honestly, I ordered "Police Squad" on DVD back on the 30th November & it turned up on the 23rd December, I could have gone to the shops & bought it during that time.

Amazon cancelled my preorder yesterday for some unknown reason. Apparently they couldn't get it off their suppliers even though it isn't out for another month. So I went and reordered it off play.com where it was a couple of pound cheaper

You could have gone to the shops but you were buried under the 40ft of snow that had landed on the country at the time.Also, it was leading up to the Christmas rush. I don't feel it is fair to judge the delivery services throughout this time.

I agree you should have gone to the shop instead.

Oh yeah I know the snow effected the post (indeed it's effected HMV's sales during the Christmas period), however Airplane & the three Naked Gun films all turned up within three days & yet that took a month, all from Amazon oddly enough. Plus our postal service down here can be shit, they sometimes arrive all damaged as well, I just prefer going to the shops.

My boss can beat that.. he ordered a phone on Wednesday night from the Carphone Warehouse at about 6pm and it turned up Thursday before 9am.

I can see the disadvantage of waiting though, I'm an impatient fecker - if I order something, I want it there and then.

First advice would be stop wasting your phone power on forums..... Secondly, check ya fuse box, if all ok, seek a neighbour to see if they are also in same situation. If they are and its a grid fault, you have no choice but to sit and wait!

Before electricity, people worked in the fields, and only stopped and went to sleep because it got dark and they couldn't see any more. I guess it must have been pretty boring but they didn't know any different. I'm glad I'm alive when I am if you know what I mean. This sounds weird...

Didn't they go round digging holes, laying floors, wall foundations, etc chucking in a few coins and pots and stuff, and then covering them in again, they just buggered off.

Oh and I think one of there army's, 100 guys, started up a chain of hotel and leisure centres.
