I hate that kind of symbolism. If people think that being married will imprison them somehow, then don't get married. I don't mean don't have a laugh at your stag do Duck, and I'm not suggesting that you secretly loath your wife-to- be enough to think of her as your captor, I know its just a giggle - but its a pretty insulting image to associate with marriage, for both of you. Mind you, I don't know what she got up to on her hen do........!

We are comfortable enough in our relationship that we can have a laugh at this kind of symbolism. She had an inflatable man with a 7inch todger(wearing Y-fronts) that was dragged all over the town.

We like to have a laugh, I think you take life to seriously sometimes Yuds!

Not really, like I said, I know its a laugh and I know that you and your lady would treat it the same way, and that you don't mean anything by it. I just don't like that kind of stereotype.

I phoned Mr Yudster once and he was obviously in an informal meeting of some sort because when his phone rang he must have picked it up to look who it was, then switched it off. But in the few seconds it took for him to switch it off I heard him laughing and saying "oh no, its nothing important, just the wife!". Now I knew then and I know now that he didn't mean anything detrimental to me by saying that, he was just having a laugh. But it really upset me to be described in such accepted stereotyped terms, and it still would now. Its disrespectful to talk to other people about your partner like that. If thinking like this means I take life too seriously, well, I'd rather take it seriously and treat the people I love with respect behind their backs than assume they won't mind me being rude to my mates about them.

ok, I see where you're coming from

The whole point of the ball in chain (for me) was the laughing at the stereotype!

I don't think of her as a ball and chain, she is my best friend and soul mate and if anything, has given me more freedom in life.

sick bags are available here *points* here *points* and here *points*

I'm sure I've had a very similar argument to this when I expressed objection at someone referring to his girlfriend as "the missus". Might even have been Moyles, not sure. Anyway, I too was told I was taking it too seriously!

I think that would need a bit of thought applying to it before I ventured an opinion.

Foots is completely right, however I must add:

I'm not sure either... I think purely for the fact that there is more of Wales, Romford > Wales.

The headline in tonight's Lancashire Evening Post: 'Yawn To Dusk - Preston before 9pm too boring, says a report'. Preston too boring all the time, I'd say...*snort*
