I sit on the reference desk at a library, which is sort of like a glorified receptionist, but I answer tricky questions. I'm back on it today and I just want a nap.

8O Argh I hate when that happens, or when I forget to charge my ipod, have it on for ten minutes & then the battery dies :x I normally leave my headphones in when that happens so that the idiots with clipboards don't ask me any questions or the like.

I found my headphones.....at work!

I left them on my desk and had yesterday off work so didn't notice.

So the bus journey home should slightly better.

I do the same thing of leaving my headphones in when the battery dies, make life so much simpler, but its quite sad that you have to do this to avoid the harrasment from random weirdos with clipboards etc

I know, it is a bit, but as you say it makes life so much simpler, especially on the tube/buses :)

See if you have a spare five minutes, arguing with the randoms with clipboards is fun. Especially the religious ones. The charity ones are not such fair game.

I used to argue with them. You can pick on the charities, the people with the clipboards are getting paid to do it, they aren't doing it as a good will thing, giving up their own time for a good cause!

Aye, but I feel a bit bad if they are trying to raise money to save some poor animals from being skinned or whatever.

If they are trying to teach me about God etc, then they are a fair target.

The fecking EuroSport player..... Wanted to keep up to date with the SBK action this season, so figured i'd subscribe to the ES-Player, tis only £3.99 a month.

Got all set up, only to find out the videos have NO COMMENTARY and NO ABILITY TO FAST-FORWARD OR REWIND!!!

So, not only do you have to pay for this service, you only get half what a TV can achieve..... But of course, all this is detailed BEFORE you sign up, isn't it....?!

So, cancelled my subscription 10 minutes later. Anyone else thinking of signing up, save ya money.

Cheers EuroSport, you bunch of fecking arse wipes.

argh, I hate them so much, and even when I have earphones in they still jump in front of me trying to talk to me. I usually don't even speak out loud - I just mouth 'sorry' and keep walking. Essentially I am quite an anti-social person, I hate strangers in my personal space and I don't want to talk to them, let alone give them money I don't have. In Manchester the God-botherers just seem to stand on a bucket shouting in the middle of the street - they don't actually harass people individually..

I saw one once approached a young woman, who started running to get away from one of them & the bloke bloody run after her! That's why I avoid them as best as I can. If I want to give to charity I do it by other means.

I'm the same. Once I was sitting alone on a bench eating lunch and a guy with a clipboard sat down next to me and started talking to me, soon asking for money as well. I didn't know what to do as I'm too polite/shy to tell a stranger to leave me alone and I certainly wasn't going to be pushed from that bench either. It was quite violating and I'm surprised it's even allowed.

I actually have more respect for the religious ones because whether you agree or not, they have their convictions and aren't doing it for the money. The same goes for some charity workers too of course, but you never really know.

Argh, once a guy from one of the local radio stations did that to me. I was wearing sunglasses, had earphones in and was reading a book - how much more obvious could I make it that I didn't wanna make conversation? He asked me a few pained questions about what I was listening to (definitely nothing that was on their playlist) and then tried to get me to say the station ident phrase. I flatly refused.

I was strolling through Paisley Town Centre, hungover, possibly still drunk, when a young fellow started asking me questions about God and the like. There followed a fairly heated debate which involved me chuckling quite a bit. We reached the end of our discussion and he asked if I wanted to take one of his books (he had maaaasive stack of books under his arm) which required only £1 donation. I said that I was quite alright for the book, but was happy to donate the pound cos he had been a worthy adversary.

He said that if I paid a pound, I needed to take a book. There then followed another heated debate with my point being that I didn't want the book and his being he needed to hit his targets. My point was that he could give someone else the book for free, his was that I was getting the book whither I wanted it or not.

I'm pretty sure I still have the book somewhere.

The head of Accounts Payable called just when 'Stargirl' was starting and I missed it all. :(

I could of course listen to it on my Walkman at any time, but that's hardly the point.
