Ah a fellow Halifax customer then.

Funny thing is I was discussing this with my Dad, in some respects it's a good thing, if only to curb my spending (which can be a bit out of control at times), however the fact they've taken away the "bonus" you get if you are in the black is a kick in the teeth. Not only that timing it for the 6th December hits everyone who relies on a overdraft for Christmas plus lets say that 50% of their customers are on a over draft by say the 8th of the month, the amount of money they make is substantial.

Oh well seeing as those in the City are getting so poorly paid now, due to the cuts in bonuses, they have to make their money up somehow to justified their wages :x

Having to travel to Exeter just to change the taxation class on my car. I can't tax it until this is done, and I can't drive it until I tax it.
So I can't even drive to Exeter to get this done..

Carol Anne - do not go into the light. Stop where you are. Turn away from it. Don't even look at it.

What's annoying me is the lack of hours in the night to watch my 24 Season 7 DVD!! Still, I have managed to get through 14 episodes but am very tired after 3 hours sleep each night!

What? 16? I thought the point of 24 was that it was a whole day in real time and therefore 24 hours? Besides, why don't you just watch an episode as and when you can, to avoid getting stupidly tired and not really being able to pay attention to it anyway?

You don't keep your mobile on the desk near your screen, do you?

I reckon they might take the adverts out when you get it on DVD.

It is real time, but obviously they have to accommodate for the adverts so including adverts it is a full hour, but when watching it on DVD its a lot less.

I've tried that and will still watch an odd episode here and there as I did with previous seasons, however I find it quite addictive viewing and just as I think that I'll switch it off, the episode finishes with a cliff hanger so I end up telling myself I'll watch just one more.

I know, 6Music is far superior, however the one positive about it having a lower amount of listeners is that the censorship is virtually non existant compared to Radio 1 (Jon Holmes for example, if he said some of the "double entandres" that he says on 6Music on Radio 1 instead he wouldn't have lasted 5 months on the station, let alone five years.)

 No, I just thinks it's a superb station that is sadly under-listened to (if that makes sense). Marc Reilly, Craig Charles & Jon Holmes are excellent & the music is superb as well, especially compared to Radio 1. In all honesty when Chris finally does leave Radio 1, I really hope he ends up on 6Music

I dare suggest Johnny that we have a similar taste in radio(from what I've seen in your posts and of course your incredible archive) so I might just give this 6Music a chance.Any shows you could suggest?

Yep I find listening from Liz Kershaw - Craig Charles on a Saturday afternoon a great listen. I normally catch the last 30-60 minutes of Liz's show, listen to all of Jon Holmes show (which has some great songs amongst the random satire links & random games) all of Laurel Lavern's (which if anything is great to have on in the background) & although I'm not usually into much funk & soul I find Craig Charles' show a great listen as well. Then of course every there's Marc Riley Mon-Thursday's from 7pm, who seems to have a live act in most nights

And I'd best leave it that before we become the reason for someone being annoyed today ;) :D

Surely this just reflects that people aren't all that interested in using the radio to listen to music these days? Surely most people who want to listen to music for the pure enjoyment of the music use mp3 players - stands to reason that the radio is there for something different? If you let yourself get annoyed about what radio stations the rest of the country wants to listen to you are going to make yourself ill you know.

Absolutely agree, I always used to have a portable radio by my bed when I was a kid - there was something comforting in dropping off to sleep with someone talking to me.

Might sound weird, but I think that's stuck - I much prefer people talking on the radio than playing music. Obviously there's times when I like listening to music too, but I'd say it's an 80-20 split in favour of talking.

This is why i quite like talksport - even if they're constantly talking nonsense.

I cannot stand commercial radio adverts though. They cut through me like a knife - so i often switch off.

I can't listen to commercial radio. I think I could handle the fact of adverts, but the horrendous frequency of them - far worse than on TV - and the momentous repetition of them is completely untenable.
