Cheers all. I just found out that they're keeping my dad in so I guess they haven't figured out yet why he's bleeding internally. The thing is he was gonna have to wait 10 days to get a blood test at his GP's, but thankfully he decided to go to a walk-in clinic at the hospital instead, and they told him he needed to be admitted for a transfusion immediately. I dread to think what might have happened if he'd waited. He's been out building a shed in their back garden all week as well!

Aww, i wish them both a speedy recovery.....

Annoying me today is the fact that the DSA have cancelled my driving test 'due to unforeseen circumstances', and now it's 7 weeks away instead of 2 weeks away - argh

Annoying me today is:

People that need to get a life
My sore throat
Knowing that the weekend is almost over
and
worrying about getting a new job

Cheers, trying to be positive tho. I've had an interview at one place so far, just waiting to hear back from them. Applied for another one on Friday which I think i'd prefer, so I hope I get an interview for that. Fingers crossed.

How can it be unforeseen two weeks before the event? Surely that's foreseen?

You could go so far as to say its positively prophetic.

Annoying me now, Wales not getting any credit for their cricket victory today.

Seriously, no one calls them the British Lions any more, it's the British & Irish Lions. Why? Cos the Irish got fed up with it. So how come, despite the fact one of the five ashes tests was in their bloody country, is it England have won the Ashes and not England and Wales? Come on, get it sorted! Stand up for yourselves!

Serious question: were there any Welsh players in the side?

Also, I stayed awake until 2 last night because I'd gotten interested in a film we were watching and wanted to see the ending, but the ending was shit and answered absolutely no questions whatsoever... should have just gone to sleep!

It wasn't 'Stargate' by any chance? That was on late.

My dad's still in hospital. My mum sounded so narked off by the whole situation when she texted me yesterday that I've requested a couple days' compassionate leave so I can go over there and make sure everyone is okay.

Not that I'm aware of, but I'd be wary of using that as a defence when Kevin Pietersen has been such a hero in the past...

There has always been a significant South African/Zimbabwean presence in the England cricket team, but it IS the England cricket team, just like the England football team is the England team. Any non-English players have to demonstrate their eligibility to play for England at cricket, same as Michael Owen did at football (he's Welsh apparently) and Kevin Pietersen has done at cricket. The reason its not called the England and Wales cricket team is because its England, NOT Wales. Just because the cricket authorities decided to accept the offer from Cardiff to stage a Test there doesn't change that. They play cricket in Wales and Scotland - they have their own international sides, and there are plenty of non-Welsh/Scots players in both of them.

No it's not. Check what the top of your browser says.

We, on the other hand, do have our own. Which is why I don't support anyone in the ashes. It's actually one of the few sports where the commentators don't annoy me - mainly because you tend to get both English and Aussies and they kinda wind each other up. It's good fun.

That's nice of you. They'll be ok, although it's hard, think positive

I dunno! Ask them. But there's no denying it's the England & Wales Cricket Board. They say so themselves.

Actually, I'm curious to know if it's always been like that or if it's a recent development. Cos I only found out about it this year!

Its a mystery! I'll ask my father in law, he's a member of MCC so he might know I suppose. But even if he doesn't he'll say he does, so any response may be untrustworthy........
