Basically, recently a local kid (and friend of my brother) was ridiculously drunk and was very regrettably hit by a truck as he wandered aimlessly on a dual carriageway, oblivious to the fact he was even on a road. Now, obviously this is a terrible tragedy but here's the part that gets me.
His funeral was today, so all his mates decided to go out and pissed after, to 'celebrate' his life. Now, it may be the norm but seeing as it was the sauce that claimed the poor kid's life is it wrong of me to think that these kids are idiots for getting seshed after their own mate's funeral?
Thanks.
I read about that on the BBC - it sounded pretty horrific. A mate of mine was killed when he drove his car into a motorway pillar while drunk. I think we pretty much did the same as your brother is doing after the funeral.
While I understand your point, your brother and his mates will want to do something that feels like the norm to them. They probably all got pissed together when he was alive and will say it's "what he would have wanted". They will need something to take the edge off what must have been a horrible day and maybe to try and forget about it a bit. Keep an eye on him over the next while though - don't let him keep getting drunk because of it.
As I say, I get what your point is, but I wouldn't say it to him.
I know he doesn't know who I am, but pass on my thoughts or summit.
