We pretty much run the show on here nowadays. Don't tell the Engerlanders though - they get all possessive and blah de feckin blah.

I haven't got a problem with that, as long as you keep that swine flu up there. ;)

People need to stop panicking AGAIN because of the hysteria that media creates AGAIN.

If you're gonna get this, you're gonna get it. Getting all worked up about it and changing your day to day life is a bit silly.

I'm not TBH, the media love spinning it to cause a mass hysteria

Mass Hysteria = Extra Paper Sales

Well, it might be an idea not to snog a Mexican or a recently returned Cancun tourist for a few weeks maybe. But also, even if you do get it, unless you are really old, really young, already unhealthy or live in ghetto-style insanitary conditions you really aren't likely to die from it.

People in this country die from flu - ordinary, common or garden flu - every year. Mostly very old people. So maybe it is worth being concerned about this particularly bad strain - but unless you are in one of the specific "at-risk" groups you aren't realistically going to die from it, although it sounds like it could put you out of action for a few weeks at least if you copped it.

I went to St Andrews once directly from a Celtic match (so I was wearing my Celtic top). The funny looks I got up there... I've felt more welcome outside Ibrox. It was only after talking to a few people I realised what the problem was.

1) I'm scum.
2) I'm Scottish.
3) I'm a football fan.

None of which inhabit St Andrews much. Too many foreign rugby loving toffs.

And it's the Uni's fault. I went up there about a month before the Uni year started (so during the summer holidays) and the population was about half as much and they were about three times the age.

So in conclusion, St Andrews is populated by old folk and foreign toffs. No wonder we keep it so far out of the way.

None of which has anything to do with me being dumped the last time I was there.

Yes apparently it is likely to be the worst one since Baldrick The Left Hander was on the throne in 120 BC, following the great fagot riot in Lemington Spa, caused by the over selling of wood, which no one really had, the price of fagots went up so much that, unlike Brighton at the time, you couldn't buy a fagot for love not money.

The was a felling crunch that preceded this riot, but no one was hurt.

It is getting harder and harder to escape from the student population. However, as someone who grew up as a St Andrews local, I've been lucky enough to have a life outside of that. There are plenty of Scots about - you just need to go to the right places. And preferably during the summer, or whenever else it isn't term time.

There is football though. There are live matches shown at many of the pubs, and we even have a (absolutely tiny) team and football ground. I also know quite a few Celtic supporters. At least I know I went to school with a lot of them.

But you're right, St Andrews is basically full of students and pensioners. That's because there is no industry here except tourism/golf and the University. Or it's a nice place to retire to. :?

So in conclusion, if you want a real thrill ride, forget Thorpe Park. Just drive on the M25.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's had the following scenario, you start buying DVD's in a range, only buy a few & return to buy the rest a month later.

However when you go back to get the rest you find they've all been withdrawn & find in their place a boxset which contains all releases & has none of the releases available individually any more :x

Coming into work to find some little * has thrown a bottle through one of our office windows. Glass everywhere.

The bottle had been drunk from though so there's the possibility of DNA

That would involve police work. No chance of the police doing that. They'd need to fill out forms and everything. They'll turn up, look at it, confirm it was a crime, give you a number for insurance purpose and you'll never hear from them again.
