I've been growin an Oak Tree from a seedling which I was given at a mate's wedding about 3 years ago. I normally kill anything green but this tree has survived my best efforts and two savagings by killer Pugs. Today however my brother in law was reversing his car and hit the wheelie bin it was standing on (no sun in our house) and it smashed to the floor. I've re-potted it using an old bag of compost I found in the shed next to the half bag of now solid cement and the customary 3 empty paint cans. I got most of the roots I think but I'll be devastated if anything happens to this tree.

I'm a right bloody hippy me.

Two things - first the really bad new single by the Black Eyed Peas is really really annoying me.

Second - I have a burst blood vessel in my right eye and I look like the devil. Thing is although its a bit uncomfortable, because I can't see it myself I keep forgetting about it and wondering why people are looking at me and running away. Yes, I'm sure thats what it is.

I hate that Black Eyed Peas song as well. I've only heard it once and I rarely like songs very much on first listen, but I pretty much know that one's not going to grow on me, it's terrible.

I'm massively bored. I've been (ab)using this forum as an outlet for my boredom recently by posting really boring replies to boring topics in the hope that will make everything else less boring in a kind of pointless post-modern way, but I've only succeeded in boring myself even more. Gah.

See, I think that look would be brilliant, but I'm weird like that.

You could probably do with looking like you avatar about now though, that would work well.

I think National Express as a group of companies own a number of both rail and coach / bus companies, but as a brand they're better known for their coaches.

That red eye will help you on public transport, no need to ask for a seat they'll let you have, plus if you don't want anyone to sit next to you they won't because of the red eye. :D

National Express are idiots & not just for the reason you mentioned

Ed Pummelon wrote:I didn't know there were National Express trains. How the hell did that pass me by?

Yep, sadly they own two franchises, National Express East Anglia (ex First Great Eastern, WAGN, Stanstead Express & Anglia Railways) and National Express East Coast (Midland Mainline) both services are shyte, through personal experience.

(Has a quick butchers on Wikipedia)

No, what it was, was National Express owned a few franchises but never put their name on them. At one stage they owned: WAGN, c2c, Central Trains, ScotRail, Wessex Trains, Wales & Borders, Midland Mainline, Silverlink & Gatwick Express.

Only the c2c brand still exists, Midland Mainline was replaced by East Midlands Trains, (Not National Express East Coast) most of the others were either taken over or absorbed into other franchise areas & since they Gain National Express East Coast they decided to rebrand "one" to National Express East Anglia. c2c is next apparently.

Anyway enough on that bollocks

Oops forgot to add what has annoyed me today.

In actual fact it's made me rather sad. Of recent our firm has had a major "redundancy cull" and we are downsizing to a smaller office.

One of my friends, who is pregnant ended up taking voluntary redundancy. She was originally going to come back after her 9 months maternity leave but because she would be changing jobs, which wouldn't be on a part time basis she opted to take voluntary redundancy (of which she'll get maternity pay as well & seeing as she's worked there for 12.5 years will get a fairly good package. She leaves next Friday.

Next another friend of mine was also up for redundancy, she got the new placement, however is transferring to our City Of London branch, which is a real bummer because although she still works for our firm, she'll won't be moving with us to our new premises (which are nearer where she lives).

Finally another friend of mine (female again) who I was my boss for two years, but a great boss (hard working, friendly, didn't speak to you like a normal boss, more like a friend) told me after work today that she was going to hand in her notice either tomorrow or Friday as she had got a new job.

What makes it worse if that the first & third lady are good friends of mine (not in that way, and no the kids not mine :D) who I have known since I started at the company back in October 2002 & have helped me through hard times so it's really going to be a tough couple of months to be honest.

The only positive to come out of this is it now gives me an incentive to move on, I get on with other people there & have wanted to move on for a while but was always inclined to. Now that two great friends are leaving, I don't feel "compelled" in a way (if that's the right word) to stay anymore. I know you've got to think of yourself but when people leave our firm they always say it's the people that kept them there so long & that the thing they'll miss (not the job itself) which is what's made it hard for me. However I think if they both weren't there, I would have left back in 2004 to be honest.

So far I'm finding 2009 a really shitty year to be honest. I know not to say "next year's going to be great, I can feel it" on New Years Eve this year, it always seems to curse it. :(

Well I was late on that comment! Definately weren't WAGN beforehand, WAGN were bought out by First Capital Connect and they still have their heating on aswell!!

Johnny - seems 'tis the season' to move jobs, is there really a credit crunch? A friend of mine is moving closer to London as her other half has got a job with the police (Met I believe) and therefore will be leaving his current job, which weirdly has been offered to another friend! Maybe it's time for me to move on aswell, will have been at my job 4 years at the start of May

I must have run over my headphones with my office chair as I was leaving last night because they're not working today. As my desk is hid away in the corner I think I can get away with having my speakers on quietly, but i'd prefer to wear headphones.

Ok on Yahoo there is a story called 'Dunst a doubt for Spiderman 4'
No guessing what the story is about, however have a read -

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/1/20090423/ten ... 0bd6d.html

Where, in either of the quotes does it hint that she may not appear in the next ones?
She hasn't signed up yet, but only because the director has yet to have a meeting with her.

the 'mystical' source even states -

"It had been presumed that Kristen would sign up for the fourth but she's still not agreed. She needs to be assured that the story is going to be a strong one, in terms of her character."

We know she hasn't agreed because she hasn't had the meeting yet, and of course she needs to be assured that it'll be a good story - doesn't everyone? It doesn't say that "Dunst has said that she will refuse to appear in the next Spiderman installment unless her character has a strong role."

Typical non-story based on a comment taken out of context.

They're going to have a Spider-man 4? That's just reminded me of Spider-man 3, and that annoyed me when I saw it.
