You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family - but remember that everyone is human and makes mistakes.

I can't really decide what I think at the moment. I've only heard one show, and I can see where Chris takes his information. However, whilst Chris does tend to drool over some of the guests (not one of his high points I think), Stern seems to over-do it completely. Maybe I'm too reserved.

TIAL! Shame on you. Please don't ever compare them again. After you hear more than one show you'll see that Howard Stern is utterly classless. Moyles's only similarity to that oaf would be that he (Moyles) also pushes the boundaries of what his station will accept. Stern's humoUr is crass and he is vile. The word 'gentlemanly' would never enter his vocabulary, let alone his mannerisms. Moyles, on the other hand, (along with Dave and Dom) has been brought up well, with all the graces that polite society expects. I really wish Stern wasn't American, let alone a New Yorker. I don't like having anything in common with him. I'd sooner eat a heaping spoonful of mushrooms smothered in Marmite than be in the same room as him.

Haha. It would be easy not to if Chris hadn't himself named Stern as one of his influences. I do see what you mean though. The differences are big and Chris is clearly the better man.
And my post above should have read 'inspiration' rather than 'information', by the way.

I knew what you meant and YES, Chris is clearly the better man as well as more entertaining.

You sound like my oldest - he has been known to pass out if he overhears a conversation where needles are mentioned. He had to have a blood test a few weeks back, the whole clinic had to be put on alert for him! There's a big difference between "Oooh, I really hate needles" and true needle-phobia.

You told her to do that? Have you considered the possible consequences of that?!

No, no, no. Marmite goes on toast or with Dairylea in a sandwich

Sauteed Mushrooms have garlic sauce

Stilton/Other blue cheeses on crackers or in french bread, not really on toast TBH.

I can eat less disgusting things though, like, erm, Lamb Tikka Masala & Cod Roe and Chips

You need to stop. Too. Much. Information.

TIAL wrote:Hmm, the Howard Stern interview with Russell Brand is slightly annoying me. Stern clearly doesn't have a clue who he is and is just reading from notes.

Please don't rush out and have one now because of this and then tell me about it. I beg of you. Where's S4? She can start talking about that Guinness Marmite she had ordered a while back. She thought it was gorgeous stuff. To me it seemed like a massive waste of Guinness.

Hot toasted crumpet spread with marmite and topped with cold cottage cheese. The best diet food ever, I have it even when I'm not fat.

As oppose to HOT cottage cheese?

Well its important - part of the pleasure of the combination is the contrast between the hot crumpet which needs to be slightly crisp on the top, and the cold cottage cheese. Also the salty tanginess of the marmite and the blandness of the cheese is a great combination. Its all about flavour and texture contrasts.

When it comes to contrasts - have you ever tried eating fresh strawberries with ground black pepper?

It's a really amazing taste combination and suprisingly yummy. Healhy too.

I've never heard of that before. I'll definitely have to give that a try next time I go to Tescos!

I'm with you on this one, Guinness is the most over rated beer out there, can't stand the wretched stuff. Give me a Carlsberg or Heineken any day :D
