I'm kinda worried about American political Satire shows. They'll have no content now. Jay Leno is basically screwed. The thing about Obama is that for the first time in my life there is a world leader who I would actually like to go down the pub with.

Even John Stewart has said the show just won't be as funny anymore since his primary source of material is out of a job.

Biden strikes me as a bit of a speak first think later type of person. They'll be fine.

I'm surprised you haven't already. No doubt on his first official visit, you'll be able to make time for an arm wrestle with him.

Not that I've found unfortunately. Pity, because I'd watch it too. Already got The Daily Show on More4 and The Colbert Report on FX and that would complete the set of programmes I watch when I'm over there.

Now you are encouraging him!

I download mine from here:
http://www.sinlesslinks.com/TV-Series/s ... ght-live0/

With the above you can get it for free. I bought myself a rapidshare account as I get all my stuff from rapidshare and it just makes it a bit faster.

Bittorrent seems to run stupidly slow for me these days, I find it quicker and easier to use rapidshare.

Have I ever struck you as the sort that needs encouraging though?

When someone getting kicked off X-Factor is mentioned in the Commons, we have plumbed new depths ladies and gentlemen. It's surely a sign of how desperately politicians are trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, which is bad enough when the tabloids do it, but when the politicians start trying the same thing when there are far more pressing issues like, er, the recession, rising unemployment, the wars that they're making our forces fight... seriously, are they stupid?

No - but they clearly think we are. And when you consider who put them where they are, you can't really argue with that.

That's a very good point.

There are very few (if any) politicians who actually look out for the interests of the average Joe any more. The only politician in the entire country who I can think of that I like is Vince Cable.

When he was Environment Minister (and I worked for him), I liked David Milliband, he was very good - but now he seems a grasping and power-hungry as all the rest.

Politicians these days are career politicians though, that's the problem. They go to uni to study politics and have their route worked out to get to the top before they're even elected to Parliament and it's all to help themselves. At least in days gone by, they used to try and help out others - they would become a politician because they saw something wrong with the system and honestly tried their best to change things for the better... that doesn't happen now.

So young and so jaundiced.

Toph, why not go for it, prove yourself wrong by joining a party, working your tit's off knocking on doors, smoozing in meetings, kissing arse, giving speeches, doing debates, joining clubs like Rotary or round table, being out every night, getting a nomination, getting in as an MP, and all the time working for a living..... doesn't sound that easy does it ?

That why in days gone by it was only the super elite that became MP's (See Eton school photo and try and spot the differences with both parties front benches)

At least there are a few genuine ones now, and the point of a democracy is that you could do it if you wanted to, and you have every right to have your opinion. On today of all days we have a huge debt of gratitude to those people who fought and died, and still fight today, in order that we can have that right.

Stand and pray silent.

I can't debate.

All it would take is someone who is slightly good at making their point and I'd think they had a good point and end up switching to their side.. and then someone else on the side that I was on could persuade me back again. I seriously can't argue for toffee.
