We import some American Brilliant as well as the crap.

And with all the noise which is coming out of Wales and Scotland about independance from England, why can't we English assert a desire to be known as English rather than British?

Because we all come from abroad, or from Scotland and wales or Ireland that's why.

I am one six Jewish, with 4/6 Cornish, and 1/6 Devonian, ( I just wish it wasn't THAT bit that was Jewish !)

But that can be said for almost everyone, anywhere. I think most of us know who and what we are. I'm not talking about my ancestry, I'm talking about me.

Actually, the php script just ignores anything after the decimal, which is essentially rounding down for all the numbers, which is why it leads to a lost digit in this case. If it were to round to the nearest whole number then the 77% would be 78%.

bigcheez wrote:why not just wind it up to 100% looks much better.

The reason it isn't done is because it is a PITA to work out.

Monty Python....
Two words that almost all decient US comedy will openly admit they owe it all too.
Add Spitting Image, Benny Hill, The Office and so many others and you will see that ALL of the world's comedy can be traced back to good old Blighty!!

I think there is a temptation to put a lot more emphasis on things that happened first. Just because its old doesn't mean it influenced what follows.

Not really. Once Python hit the airwaves the change in US comedy is obvious.
Only Richard Pryor had as big a singular impact on the social intraspect of the US as Python. No export (bar The Beatles) has been as successful throughout the World as Monty Python.
