When I was much younger, I was sent into town to find a bubble for a spirit level, and I got one! that shut them up.
It was a vial which can be fitted into a spirit level to replace broken ones, don't know if you can still get them?

When I worked in Currys years ago, my Manager asked me to go and get some sky hooks, being fresh faced and new, I thought he meant hooks to hang sky tv accessories or something on, so i searched all day. All the while they were all laughing at me because they meant actual Sky Hooks, which obviously, dont exist.
