9/11 - I came home from college and was doing some work, put the TV on in time to see the first tower collapse.

Diana - My brother woke me in the morning to tell me, I didn't believe him until I saw the news.

7/7 - was having a lie in and my mum woke me up to tell me. text my friend who was due to go to London around the same time.

9/11 - i was in geography at school flicking between mark & lard and my work. heard they didn't sound like their normal selves but i didn't take much notice at that time and didn't really hear what they said, due to hiding my headphones from the teacher. after finishing at 3 i got home around 3.10 seen it all happen on tv and heard bits of moyles and other radio stations. called both my folks and they already knew.

diana - got up that morning and my mum told me. seen all the details on the news.

7/11 - was listening to scott mills that morning and heard the news buillitens all day. followed it online and through radio 1.

7/7 - I was off from work, and the attacks happened just before I was set to drive down to Silverstone for the British GP at the weekend. I heard how the story developed and got more and more shocked as the reality unfolded. I remember how it was early thought to be a power surge or something like that. It was very eerie and saddening driving down, as every matrix sign had warnings to stay away from London.

9/11 - I was in Leeds, and arrived at my mates house, to be greeted by his dad shouting "get in here, the WTCs burning!" I went into the room and watched what has to be the most horrifying thing (still shocks me today) that I have ever seen unfold live right before me. At first I thought it was just a terrible accident, then the second plane hit.

Totally agree with you there. Most over-rated person in the history of the universe. Nobody would give a t*ss about her if she was still alive

I agree too. All the mass hysterical mourning that week was ridiculous. Then Mother Theresa (a truely great woman) died and barely got any news coverage. Infuriated me.

I think Diana was a tragedy, but it was moreso due to the MASSIVE amounts of press coverage she got. She was the #1 paparazzi target and so she was ultimately the most famous person in Britain.

I think she was the only person who made the Royal Family seem "normal" and when she died it did strike a nerve with everyone, positive or negative.

Agreed, people like Di can raise and pledge millions, with no skin off their own backs, same goes for Beckham, Posh, Beyonce, J LO, Robbie Williams and all the other 'A' listers. They're never gonna be skint though. I have more respect for the guy who gives a wedge of his hard earned pay packet.

Yeah - and to trivialise this thread even further I was pleased to see they made an effort during 7/7 to keep neighbours on, even if it was on BBC2
