It's comedy moaning and is part of what makes his show funny because above all else, he's usually pretty accurate on the topics he moans about and I agree with most of what he says, and I do stress most!

All the greats talk about themselves, and have a moan, they tend to moan about things we moan about, it's how stand-up comedy works, observation. It's good entertainment because you can generally relate directly to what is being said...Chris is a big fan of Howard Stern and this is how Stern made his mark on in the USA ... that and pushing the boundaries of decency to unknown territories!!!

I think the point you are all missing is that Chris is NOT a comedian - he is a radio presenter. I agree, that the odd moan can be amusing, especially when it is about something that the majority of listeners can relate to.

HOWEVER, relating to the average listener appears to be a step to far for the now (in)famous Mr Moyles, and whinging about his car, award shows and the press he gets is really of no interest. Comedians, regardless of their fame, are able to make educated people laugh because they can always find a common ground, that anyone can experience and understand. I find constant bragging, egotism and an inability to accept criticism can get somewhat tiresome after a while.

And before you bleat on about 'go listen to another show then', I already do - I just felt it necessary to respond to your lame replies.

firstly, RAJAR figures are a pile of poo.

secondly, I think rimjaw is suggesting that the 750,000 added were probably below average intelligence .

thirdly, the arguement is also there that previous radio 1 breakfast shows were so poor that a decent presenter would pile on listeners regardless.

exactly, as you put it, he is a decent presenter! - im not saying he is god's gift...

The point i was trying to make was that his 'constant moaning' obviously isn't annoying the 'average listener'.


As for the rajar figures - yeah obviously they are not 100% accurate but you could argue that they have got a very representative sample which can be fairly generalised - the results ulltimately are quite high in validity and reliability which as any good sociologist student could probably say is a top result. No-one is ever going to create fool proof figures - but rajar clearly provide the best.
