I've done a quick search which has so far proven in-conclusive, but...

Is Daz Sampson (dodgy 40 year old rapper) who won the Making Your Mind Up show the other Saturday the same chap who Chris was champing back in (about...) 2001 on the afternoon show, which lead to Rikki & Daz's Rhinestone Cowboy?

I'm confident it is, and if anyone is reading this and has no idea what I'm going on about, I am sorry. And if anyone is reading this and does know what I'm talking about, then I admit that yes, I am a sad person.

Yeah, it is the same chap. Just scanned my Bible of Pop (AKA The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles (where would I be without it?)) and his real name is Darren Sampson.

I think he was the guy behind 'Bus Stop' too.

Edit: Check his website out: http://www.dazsampson.co.uk/ - I quite like the song actually, sounds fairly catchy. It won't win though.

Another edit: He's on myspace too: http://www.myspace.com/djdazuk

Yet more edits: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/eurovision/ ... pson.shtml - It tells you he's behind Bus Stop and Rhinestone Cowboy on the BBC's Eurovison page. He was also behind Uniting Nations of 'Out of Touch' fame. This guy has had more guises than Fatboy Slim.

How would we have learned that otherwise. Thanks Book of Singles.

Obvioustastic.

Incidentally, the remaining 2 members of Bus Stop went on to form Flip and Fill who had credible dance hits with 'True Love Never Dies' featuring Kelly Llorenna and the classic 'Shooting Star' which is my new favourite dance tune after having it banging out at full volume driving through my quiet town centre. Boyracertastic.

If I did, it was never conclusive and I've since forgot.

Ah yeah, found it now. Sampson and Matthews were also behind the 2003 semi-hit 'Yippie-I-Oh' by the 'Barndance Boys'.

I wonder why Moyles stopped supporting him? The Woah Song is just the sort of cheesy rubbish Chris normally loves.

I'm starting to wish I hadn't asked, but at least I know. Well, actually I dug out the Rhinestone Cowboy single (Why the hell did I buy that!) and it said Daz Sampson on it, so I answered my own question.
