Ok, now I often lurk on this page, but todays show compelled me to post a topic. I usually am pretty happy with the current state of Moyles' show, I read here that alot of people reckon its gone downhill, and overall I disagree. However, today's interview with Pink I felt was the weakest interview I've ever heard Moyles do. I fould it slightly cringeworthy, I thought it went on far too long, and Moyles perving his way though the interview was just plain wrong.
To be fair to Moyles, Pink was an awful guest. She hardly spoke, gave 1 sentence answers, and just fake-laughed her way through it. She put no effort into it. When she did speak, she said nothing of interest, was plain dull, and her segments slowed the whole pace of the show down. Didnt Moyles say 24 hours prior that if a guest slowed the show down, he would cut the interview short (& give the listeners a secret code), showing the guest how his desk goes up and down, meaning that there was 60 secs of the interview remaining. Why didnt he do that today then? That interview was needlessly stretched out over 40 mins.
Moyles even knew the interview was bad afterwards, because he got a flood of text messages telling him so, and felt he had to defend himself, saying that he thought the interview went well. Also Moyles cant seem to take critisism, his response is usually along the lines of "if you dont like it, shut up, dont listen then, blah blah" I dont want to listen elsewhere, because overall I liked the show 99% of the time, however I know a crap interview when I here one.
After the Pink interview finished, Moyles himself critisized Kanye West for not bothering during the interview last week, however I thought that interview was 1000 times better than todays. At least Kanye bothered to speak more than 1 sentence per answer, I had no problem at all with how he was considering he said at the beginning that he had pretty much no sleep and was really tired, I thought he still sounded more fresh and interesting than Pink, and was actually pretty funny. If you ask Kanye West about Chamois leathers and choc ices AT GREAT LENGTH first thing in the morning, and then - shock horror - he doesnt respond to it in a comedic way, should you be surprised?
Also, Moyles gave the interview NINE out of 10. NINE. Mainly because Pink was still in the building and didnt want to offend her. At least Rachel had some guts, she gave it 6/10, and even that is a bit too high.
Anyway, rant over, I actually thought the show was ok today, minus the Pink segments. I liked the "Cheddar" bits on beep beep busters. I just felt compelled to write this waffle, for some reason.
