The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Please Radio 1 will you do the right thing and get rid of these two talentless no hopes. The chart show and early breakfast are just cringeworthy, full of rubbish features and appalling 'banter.'

One is as bad as the other and they should have never been allowed on Radio 1. Their shows are much too commercial, tacky, cheap and in no way unique. They are tipped to take over the breakfast show when Moyles goes and thats why the BBC are raising their profile but why? - why try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear? Improving so called talent may work on shows like the X Factor or Pop Idol but not BBC Radio 1. I really expect more for my money.

They can NOT present!
They are NOT funny!
They do NOT fit in on Radio 1!

They are AWFUL and need to be removed as there are thousands of much better, more experienced DJ's out there. DJ's that would be much more entertaining and original and not turn off listeners.

My questions for anyone that can answer are....

Why are JK and Joel still on Radio 1?

Why can't Radio 1 find proper talent and not constantly rely on 'double acts' - Colin and Edith, Fearne and Reggie and these numb nuts.

When will we get to listen to a quality broadcaster on national Radio 1?

Finally.... any suggestions on original, intelligent, comical and unique presenters that you would welcome on YOUR station?

Why are you posting this here? Shouldn't you email the BBC with your complaints, or maybe go over to the JK and Joel fansite and post it there and tell them to shut their fan site down?

Didn't JK and Joel come before Fearne and Reggie?

Its a Radio 1 comment and yes you're right about F&R.

I'd just appreciate discussing this topic with other Radio 1 listeners.

They do early breakfast and the chart show, it's harldy going to be a problem. If you're up so early a CD would do.

I like JK and Joel, I think each set of DJs have their own style, and I guess there'll be some styles people don't like.

I think there very over-rated. Before they joined radio 1 it was made out that we were going to get the two ronnies. Turns out we got the two fat ladies.

As I said in another thread....so incase you didn't see it....

Wes was 100 times better than the chuckle brothers, come on lets get real. When you listened to Butters you realised and felt it was a chart show you were listening to. Everything from the build up, the tone of his voice, the thorough interviews and good count down technique. - Here was a guy that took on the reigns of the chart in the professional way it has been done throughout Radio 1 History and he made it something well worth a listen.
Now the chart show is a laughing stock, the countdown system is a joke, the presenting skill of those two numb nuts is appalling. There is no build up and no suspense and it does not feel like a Chart run down. - Do they think they are sitting in a pub, just chilling and reading out song titles?
I want to listen to a chart show, I want to feel the suspense and build up from 40 right up to 1 without the cringe worthy 'banter' throughout.
But in this generation I guess there is certain limits and problems with the whole chart system as a whole and add this to the awful, awful Radio 1 Chart Show and you find a tradition is gone forever.
JK and Joel are very much to blame for the Chart Show's decline and I for one do not like them or ever will. Wes Butters was a true broadcaster and he made a Sunday because of his abilty to 'excite' and 'draw' the audience in tuning in to a superb show.

buttt.......

the chart show is an animal in the final throws of death which even rolf harris wouldn't shed a tear over.

pop of the pops was first to go, the chart show will be second. Its a waste of time trying to introduce a download chart based on a pay for songs basis as a large majority still download at will - paying nowt.

Like live at the palladium, like cannon and ball things - those things were popular due to lack of choice. As consumers we are far more splintered in our tastes thanks to greater choice and therefore it shaln't be long before radio 1 puts the death kneel on the chart show.

wez would have been good 10 years ago. Unfortuently for JK and Joel, even if they were time lords they'd fail to single out a period where their act could be considered entertaining.

I agree totally but just how many Radio 1 DJ's are on borrowed time?
Who is young and hip and original? Who deserves success in their era?

Moyles deserves his success no question. Not only did he work * hard for it he has genuine talent.

Scott Mills is doing really well for himself, i remember sending him very crap jokes on his old early morning shift. He's certainly stamped his mark since those early days and developed into a very skilled broadcaster.

Mainly JK and Joel and Colin and Edith are my main gripes. I like Edith and Colin when the present on their own stuff but the links on their show reeks of trying to be over creative to the point of tedium. Given the hype which JK & Joel had received at previous sony award's, I was expecting a talented duo of immense proportions. Sadly that presumption only transpires to the waistline of Joel.

I like JK & Joel, listen to their show every day, theres some good banter and some random features in their show (the early breakfast show), there are a lot worse on the station especially the 1-4 slot (weekdays and weekends)

People have their preferences. But anyone who didn't find Mark & Lard at least better than what they have been replaced with, need shooting. Anyone who knows good DJ's know that they were good.
