I don't like this new podcast system at all. Why would anyone in the right mind want a podcast of Jk and Joel's chart show chats? Even their early breakfast show links would be slightly more entertaining. A Scott Mills podcast is much needed yes but what about Colin and Edith? What about a monthly podcast of Live Lounge sessions? Who wants annoying Briggy doing an entertainment podcast? Chappers and Dave should get one and so should Dom!

The rest of those new options bar the Mills podcast sound a bit ridiculous to me.

a monthly Live Lounge would be a logistical nightmare. They only keep the sessions on the website for a week, and even then you cant download them.

Well I guess Mills show is growing all the time and creating some media interest than say the likes of Spoony. - The only way that show would make the headlines is if someone died on it.
Scott Mills certainly is becoming a bit of a shock jock in his features, I lost count the amount of features he has done now that has had an immense listener reaction because of its content. - Emails, texts, calls and even many many messages on boards just like this.
Sure many many DJ's everyday right around the world have feedback with their listeners at the drop of a hat but not many has made such an impact on their show as Scott. - An impact so big its made people actually stop what their doing to listen further which is a key element to any radio show. The whole thing with relationships, wrecking peoples lives, upsetting folk on the phone, hell even Lauras Diary have all contributed to that 'shock' factor and provided Scott with a well earned place in Radio 1 History and hey in this case.... even a podcast for good measure.

Damn right. People love to nose around other people's personal lives and it all makes great radio. Glad Scott has the balls to do that and I love listening to it all in the car on the way home after a sh***y day.

Shame Moyles hasn't taken off on breakfasts like he used to on drive-time with silly calls and ridiculous rants.

Glad to see the daily podcasts for Mills though!

If they made a podcast it would be classed as a f**king virus.

Wes was 100 times better than the chuckle brothers, come on lets get real. When you listened to Butters you realised and felt it was a chart show you were listening to. Everything from the build up, the tone of his voice, the thorough interviews and good count down technique. - Here was a guy that took on the reigns of the chart in the professional way it has been done throughout Radio 1 History and he made it something well worth a listen.
Now the chart show is a laughing stock, the countdown system is a joke, the presenting skill of those two numb nuts is appalling. There is no build up and no suspense and it does not feel like a Chart run down. - Do they think they are sitting in a pub, just chilling and reading out song titles?
I want to listen to a chart show, I want to feel the suspense and build up from 40 right up to 1 without the cringe worthy 'banter' throughout.
But in this generation I guess there is certain limits and problems with the whole chart system as a whole and add this to the awful, awful Radio 1 Chart Show and you find a tradition is gone forever.
JK and Joel are very much to blame for the Chart Show's decline and I for one do not like them or ever will. Wes Butters was a true broadcaster and he made a Sunday because of his abilty to 'excite' and 'draw' the audience in tuning in to a superb show.

Is Chris' podcast going to stay weekly? If LBC (Iain Lee - much funnier in the afternoon than Scott) can do daily podcasts, why can't R1?[/i]

I also notice that they seem to be showing mini 30 minute shows (presumably tasters for the podcasts) at 3am before a shortened One Click. Scott Mills, JK and Joel and Moyles all have a slot which would make sense as they are the shows that have podcasts.

I'm guessing because the BBC Podcast trial deal says the material has to be broadcast they have to air them at some point?

Isn't the material, especially in Moyles's case, broadcast anyway - since its compiled from the best of the shows broadcast that week?

Sorry, I'm wrong on that count, as Chris's myspace blog says that there will be unheard bits on the podcast from this week.

Sat is up Thanks Ian
