The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Jono wrote:The whole point of the show at the moment is to take the pee out of local radio. I don't think you really understand Celebrity Tarzan, One Road Travel, Yesterday's Weather, etc.

Perhaps Christian O'Connell is actually for you. Or alternatively spend your morning listening again to Scott.

Whats the point in that! Its not funny! Do you sit laughing at any of those?

If I wanted to listen to local radio then I would - but I choose Moyles cuz he USED TO BE good....

taking the piss out of local radio was funny about 5 or 6 years ago. now with the breakfast show maybe they should do something different?

Yeah, I agree Quincy.

What do you advise they do Quincy?

well years ago features like "the not" and all the random piss take ads were funny. but now after working so hard at his show for years and years to get on breakfast i cant help feel that chris is missing an oppourtunity. do something different to every other radio show and station. be a bit daring. take some risks. chris proclaims himself as the saviour of radio 1 but what has he done really to make himself stand out as different from any other presenter on the station over the years?

ok its not that easy to think up top quality ideas for a radio 1 breakfast show but im not paid as much as them lot are. so many people work on the show they must be able to think of something more exciting and radical then just mocking local radio shows?

Good points raised there Quincy. What about Beep Beep Busters, where do you stand with that?

i dont mind beep beep busters but most of the comedy comes from the roy walker clips and they probably should have stopped them when they finished carpark catchphrase. personally i would have liked an entirely new feature, as at the moment it just seems like a half arsed attempt at replacing carpark catchphrase with something quite similar.

When Moyles came to Radio 1 he was young and had something to prove. He had hundreds of features - all pretty much devised by himself, or with Dave.

With success though comes laziness. Hence the team getting listeners to suggest features, saving them the bother. Chris is older, gets paid probably three times as much cash and is consistently increasing audience figures - so is sticking to a winning formula.

As Aled keeps telling us, the breakfast audience wants routine. We might necessarily not - yes I want risk taking and all that stuff, but just realise they are not going to do it on Breakfast.. Radio 1 has too much to lose if it backfires.

I agree about the fact Moyles could be so much better than he is, but he is superb anyway (I don't agree with the comment I've highlighted in bold) so for the time being we're just going to have to enjoy what we've got I think.

Perhaps it's time for some parodies and a few easy spontaneous stuff that won't effect the format too much, but will keep people like Quincy happy

I dont think Moyles is as good as he used to be, but I still thorougly enjoy the show every day except when he has guests in.

He doesn't play enough music now either. I'm two thirds of the way through reviewing Tuesdays show, just got to the tedious link, and there have only been 11 songs so far. That's 5 an hour or roughly 20 minutes of music and 40 minutes of talking. I know before we used to complain that there was too much music, but now they just talk too much. When they used to have to play music, they would end a joke or gag when it was funny. Now they just flog a dead horse.

Did you hear his moan about the moaners on here today? Guess he's kinda right, but that's why the message board is here.

Was Tuesday's show not a British Music show?

Yeah, it was.

Didn't hear the moan, any chance someone could post a clip?

Chris was a bit harsh in his comments today I think. He is right that some people do take the criticisms a bit to far-it is just a bit of fun after all, but we only judge the show because we love it so much. We aren't saying it's the worst breakfast show - we are saying the opposite, we know its the best but we want it to stay that way which is why we pick out dullarse features like Celebrity Tarzan (which I think we all knew was a parody anyway ;)) and the pub quiz. Granted we should big up the better bits of the show, but like in newspapers people are more bothered about the bad stuff than the good stuff.

Agreed Fishheads. The problem is that the best stuff doesn't leave loads of room for discussion.

I still listen to the show whenever I can and enjoy it loads. Sometimes I think Chris doesn't look at the whole picture. We wouldn't have bothered becoming members of the site if we didn't enjoy the show.

I blame the newbies. Someone has to be the scape goat ;)

If we hated the show we wouldn't listen daily.

i used to try to listen to moyles every day on listen again, but i just can't keep up anymore. i think it's due to the lack of grey head.

I don't like the fact we are getting a reputation for slagging the show off so much.

I love the show and have done for seven years. We are just being picky b*stards. Ignore us Chris.
