No, not as much . . . bands come and go, like Kaiser Chiefs, like Franz Ferdinand, like Keane, who penetrate the national consciousness. But the breathlessness surrounding Arctic Monkeys is something I haven't seen since, erm, the Libertines.
Incidentally, I can absolutely see what all the fuss is about. But there's a danger that their popularity will match their merit, the balance of their aceness will tip, the ratchet will come loose, and we'll all end up with Monkey grease on the floor.
