What's with the Google Ads at the top of the forum?

Covers the forum tagline too.

Now no-one will know we had a forum before they were cool :(.

I don't see it, although I can't see the tagline either.

Ah, I've just seen it, and subsiquently blocked it, it now says "The most comprehensive Moyles site on the web!" on mine.

I'm trying to adblock mine, but it won't let me. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm - very strange.

I'm happy to have Google on the site - as long as its not something for Ultralaser or Free iPods. Or a Masters Degree in ICT at Liverpool..

False alarm, I'd disabled adblock because you can't get into the chatroom if you have it on.

Read up the thread, do you see any Harris posts?

I've removed them from the forums, but added them to the main site (with the exception of the main page).

The idea is to try and recover some of the hosting costs I pay for this site - I'll let you know how this goes. Judging by the short time they have been there - badly.

If you don't mind me asking - how much does it cost you?

Do you get paid per view or by click? Surely having them on the forum (the most popular bit of the site) would be the best plan. I certainly don't mind seeing adverts for what is an excellent site.

A little bit of advice is to stick them on the forum thats where the most views are generated you make money from clicks and the more view (impressions) the more money you will make. For every 1000 views google will pay you a small amount of money but its kinda free just for getting 1000 views. Hope this helps. AND DON'T CLICK ON THEM FOR A LAUGH BECUASE GOOGLE ARE REALLY STRICT WHEN IT COMES TO INVAILD CLICKS.

I haven't got them on mine, but if I did I would put up with them if it helped Mr. Harris, Who must on the one hand be very proud of this internationally reknown site yet, sometimes, it must hang round his neck like a rock.

I think internationally reknown is going a bit far. There is only 1 American contributor to the board.

And she knows this site well... therefore internationally reknown,
fact! :P

The google ads will appear on the forum to unregistered members after the first post in a thread, and every eight thereafter.

I figured that was a fair compromise (and most regulars would probably ignore/block them anyway).

Everyone happy with that?

a lot of forums have a link on their sites to contribute money towards the cost, to a paypal account.
