Hilarious!
Chris mentioned that Cows couldn't climb steps (wrong their Chris), this reminds of a story my Grandad told me;
My Grandad was a Chimney Sweep, One night there was a knock on the door, when he answered it their was a policeman standing there, he said to My grandad to get his van (which was an Austin A35, same as the one on Wallace & Gromit) and his equipment and follow him, so with police escort they raced (probably at around 35mph) over Somerset to a tower where there was some commotion, A cow had managed to get stuck half way up it!
This particular cow had done this before, but the farmer had managed to coax it down, this time it had managed to get nearly up to the top, and then wouldn't go up or down, so the local bobby decided to get a chimney sweep to use his rods to push her to the top and turn her around, so the farmer could bring her down!
My Grandad said they were all 'Addled' (Somerset for crazy), but tried to help anyway,
I'm not sure how this ended, but I think the farmer let a rook scarer off at the bottom, making the cow jump with fright, and run to the top.
Somebody else who has heard this story (now a legend in Somerset) said they had a helicopter rescue the cow
