Okay they, So if you hear a guy that sounds 12, trialing the iMP for newsbeat later on next week, it will be me!

Oh yes! I get to be on of the first triallers for the iMP, before they give the 5000 trialists access to the software.

If you are not aware what iMP is...

BBC iMP Website wrote:iMP is an application in development offering UK viewers the chance to catch up on TV and radio programmes they may have missed for up to seven days after they have been broadcast, using the internet to legally download programmes to their home computers. iMP uses peer to peer distribution technology (P2P) to legally distribute these programmes.

Seven days after the programme transmission date the programme file expires (using Digital Rights Management - DRM - software) and users will no longer be able to watch it. DRM also prevents users emailing the files to other computer users or sharing it via disc.

So I'm looking forward to it.. I'm not sure if I will be allowed to post screenshots on here, but there are screenshots on the website.

Actually, the DRM they are using in this trial was cracked months ago, just like most other forms of DRM. As for the rest, they can easily be defeated simply by recording the av outputs of the computer.

Can you do that easily? Its easy to crack Napster and ITunes that way.

My mate Tuc is the ultimate geek. He was telling me today that between his two PC's, he's got 1400GB of hard disk space and he's just built himself a Media Centre PC. Water cooled and everything.

If we had a geek rating system of 1 - 10, how would you rate the above?

Is there any need for 1400GB Hard Disk, unless you are working for NASA or the MoD ? And Water Cooled too. Ah hahaha.

99, and the worrying thing is that he has almost filled it up, it's all mostly films and TV programmes. He can get hold of pretty much any program you can think of, he's got the program that Pixar used to create Toy Story, costs around 4 grand.

Yep... I agree, I'm sure if more people were to think like that, we'd live in a very more segregated society.

Hmmm...

Three weeks after they wanted to do it, they are coming round thursday becuase I finally have it working!

Screenshot 1 - Screenshot 2 - Screenshot 3

In Screenshot 3, is it just me or is that women the presenter for newsround? So why is she swearing on the iMP? Pfft...

But anyway, The Chris Moyles Show is sounding great, although badly edited the beginning, just hear the end of his opening jingle!

More news if I get it... hmmm

[Edit] It's also taken me about 15 minutes to download a whole show! Stuff listen again, this is the future :D

Geeks! My mate has just spent about £1000 'modding' his Pc, and linking his TV / Hi-Fi / PC's (2) & laptop together.

The modding consists of neon light things (some are spinning), and lots of see-through bits!

That's the kind of stuff my mate does, a bit over the top. But he did get me copies of Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., Halo and an emulator with every single N64 game on it so he's good for something.
