Sorry, i was pointing out its flaws on PC as i havnt used it much on a Mac, 'twas designed for the mac platform though so you'd hope it would work well.

I tried running Apples ITunes on an old Amstrad CPC464. It was taking ages to load and then the tape got jammed and I had to start again...........how annoying were tape loading systems, what I describes always happened.

I-tunes is rubbish, takes ages to load up, you cant put the songs you have onto an MP3 player, unless if you get some other (illegal) software to convert all the songs into MP3's.

It's not illegal to convert from one format to another. What format are the songs in iTunes downloaded as? I thought it was mp3.

I tunes uses MP4, which will not dow;load onto an Mp3 player. And it is illegal to convert them if you got the songs from the I-Tunes store. (well acording to apple anyway) unless if you rip them onto Cd then that is ok.

it downloads mine as mp4, despite the fact I set it to do it as mp3 so winmedia and winamp will play them

They wont let it download as a straigt MP3, as then it can be used in other programmes such as Winnap and Window Media Player etc, so they are just trying to get you to use there rubbish software.

AFAIK it is not illegal to convert between formats. It would be the same as converting between a doc and rtf. There is no law that prohibits this action and I can't see how there ever could be.

Odd, I can play mp4 streams just fine, I'm using mplayer BTW. Also, I believe there is a plugin for winamp that allows you to play mp4 files.

There was something on TV or Radio recently, have no idea where!..... anyhooo, they were saying that the i-pod is heading the same way as Betamax, because it's pretty much useless getting anything unless you go to i-tunes, and as the market is so open now, they could end up on the slag heap.

If anyone knows what this was on, let me know, my poor old mind is like a ummmmm, you know.......thing with holes in  ......what was i saying  ?

Ok so I'm a little slow and computer illiterate so I'm not really following any of this. But how on earth do I get my Windows Media Player songs onto my iPod? iTunes isn't accepting them :?.

#191613
You dont. Thats the rubbish thing about Apple. You'd need to re record them into your PC, or possibly the easier way is to write them on to CD, then import them from the CD into Itunes.
