reggie is ace but with her if you get her whiny voice without seeing her whats the point?

Yeah, I think Fearne Cotton is really quite overrated. But I'll give her the chance to prove herself in this slot.

I can also see them being lined up for other slots, maybe at the weekend, as it seems an odd move putting them here.

Fearne Cotton! The BBC must have been thinking we need someone to fill the Friday early breakfast slot, oh all the little kiddies like that Fearne Cotton lets put her on there!

As for Reggie, I'm sure he'll be good, am I right in thinking hes covered Trevor Nelson's shows previously?

Yeah, he did Trevor's show on Saturday - he used to have a slot on 1Xtra as well.

when ive listened to him filling in for trevor nelson a few eeks ago he was very unprofesionsl. definitley not the standard you would expect from a radio1 dj.

Here's hoping DJ Devstar will make some guest appearances so we can re-live the glory days of Smile Radio

Agreed - did anyone catch his introduction to the news at 4.30pm on Saturday? ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks ... nelson_sat - 30 mins in). A wee bit embarrassing - you'd have thought the producer would have done something.

As for Cotton, I can't stand her on TV - let alone on radio. I like the fact that the Guardian points out that she has 'no radio experience whatsoever'. Another example of Radio 1 hiring people on the basis of their TV presenting skills rather than on any real ability to do the job.

The news thingy is embarrassing, but having listened to a couple more links, I reckon his and Fearne's show could be really good with a bit of work.

maybe if the work involved is the type which could only be carried out by a trained marksman.

I could see the sense if they put them on at the weekend to appeal to the kiddliewinks, but early friday morning?

I'm glad I'm not a trucker....anymore.

It seems every station at the moment is recruiting more celebrities to host shows.

The reasoning is that people like dj's playing less records and more talking but the person doing the rabbiting has to be someone who the audience cares about.

Kinda makes sense altough there needs to be some quality control.

I get the feeling they will still be better than JK and Joel and I predict Fearne will take over Sara Cox's slot in the near to mid distant future.

Fearne Cotton is one of the fakest presenters I've ever seen. She knows bugger all about music and plays up to the Indie/Punk girl image, It's hilarious, I'm surprised she doesn't work for NME. She's not good looking either, she's got a hooked nose.

Soooooooooo not true. I keep bumping into her at gigs, and she knows a thing or two about the indie/alternate scene, in London at least.

And I listened to Reggie cover for Trevor Nelson on the weekend... it reminded me of trying to tune into Radio 1 on a normal radio where I live (Hoxton, Hackney) and just get pirate radio stations that drop the backing track 100% when the dj's talk... So annoying.

I'll be interested to see Reggie's RnB and her Punky music come together for a show.

How will it?

They will be playing all the muck off of the playlist anyway.

Mafro wrote:I want to neither see or hear her.

I want to do both.

When she has been a guest with Chris she has always been good so theres nothing wrong in giving her a chance..
