mean.... us????
To be honest, I have had quite a few dealings with visiting Americans (I had a contract to collect from Heathrow/Gatwick
and Yeovil has always had many links with USA especially with aircraft / spaceflight components and helicopters, so meeting them was inevitable), and found them to mostly be decent people, but some really don't have a clue outside of the USA......
We all know USA is HUGE, but quite a few Americans think we live on a tiny island and therefore know everyone and everywhere.
A lot don't seem to understand the diveristy of our language, and if they come across, for instance, a geordie they think theyre from 'Europe'.
I'm sure they thought that the stones at Stonehenge were 1000 feet high and 2 miles round ... with remarks like "Gee, it is just soooo small".
and my absolute pet hate (said more than once on my visit to Chicago) "So, you're from London?"

....it is true that
some Americans think England is a suburb of London, and the whole England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, United Kingdom, Europe thing makes their heads explode!
BUT, in the interest of fair play I am reminded of a work colleague who said to me "I don't like Americans, they talk with an American accent" Yep, I did notice, that wherever in the USA people came from they ALWAYS had the same accent! NOT!
And the amount of people that say to me for instance ... "I won't go abroad, I like good English food, and they don't sell it in Foreign countries"
