I personally think MoshiMoshi could be the new Hop On Baby....

and our anonymous guest... are you smoking something? today's show was the best in bloody ages, first time in ages I've had reason to sit there at work at 8.30 with a grin on my face and it lasted quite a while too.

its very rarely not scripted no matter what they say.....

The tuesday reviewer amuses me does she/he post on here? I liked this quote:

One must assume, then, that they do not consider Derren Brown to be a creepy, Shakespearean-faced one-trick pony. I do, of course.

I was made to watch Derren Brown the other week and, sceptical as I was at the start, I actually thought it was very good - he's clever and, the russian roulette trick apart (which I am definitely not interested in), not at all like David Blaine, whom a lot of people seem to be comparing him to.

hey everyone,

i do lurk around the messageboard occasionally but this is my first post, so that's why none of you are sure who i am!

i'm glad that you find me amusing at times, i do my best, though i know that can sometimes be absolute rambling drivel. sorry also for delayed and somewhat rubbish reviews of late - exam hell has resulted in me being in a box revising for most of my recent life.

anyway, i'll get back to the lurking now, just wanted to say thanks for your nice comments, they've put a smile on my face!

oh, and by the way, MC, good work with the occasional manics logo thingies... best band in the world, them and kenickie and the bexleys!

My Favourite part of Wednesdays review...

then moved on to how when you’re a kid you’re taught to answer the phone like “hello, 123456, who’s speaking please?” (though I was always told not to do that, or else the caller would have your number... my mum’s flawed logic…)

'Cos my Mum used to say the same thing. Fascinating, eh?

Equally exciting the police told us not to do that (as in nee nah nee nah not Sting) after I answered the phone like that after we were burgled because it would give the caller our number

My favourite quote from the very good Wednesday reviewer was
When will people learn that the Routemaster open backed bus is a potential death trap? Where’s Lynn Faulds-Wood when you need her? In bed with flamin’ John Stapleton, that’s where.

Moshi Moshi was only good if you understood the Japanese/German translations - this therefore should make me a Mr O'Leary. I'm never in during the show and don't answer my phone.
But I enjoyed Wednesdays show better than ever - Its just childish although as some of you know from my posts I am one.

Hello all

I'm going to post a rare comment to the Show Review because I feel the need to defend something.

Dom's bit was not scripted. The only thing that's scripted are reads that Chris is given on more complicated issues like competitions or social action campaigns to ensure that all the points are addressed. Even then Chris makes it obvious he's reading it. I suppose it's flattering that you feel "so much" is scripted, maybe it's a testament to how the team's working!

As for the Moshi Moshi debate... Each to their own opinion. Mine personally is that it was very funny, and it was great to get such a huge reaction from the audience who text in in their thousands with their phone number so that we called them. Chris at his best. I too find Longman hilarious - for me, not knowing what the hell he's going to say next provides an edginess that's very exciting (but maybe that's because I'm a radio anorak!)

Moshi Moshi indeed.

As for my reviews, I apologise for the crapness of me getting them done lately. Good news though, exams are over, so its time to try and catch up...

ok then drawing a difference between scripted and planned most of it is planned.

Obviously, you try doing a radio show with no planning... I can't believe people are Complaining about this.

i never complained about it. my point was it can't be claimed that it is all made up on the spot as that would be near impossible.

its quincy with the issues... i can see his point though that if it seems too contrived its annoying.

At 7am that morning Moshi Moshi had never been ushered or thought of. It was not planned or agreed. That whole thing came about during the show. Sometimes we fill the show with features and we'll know what subjects need covering others we start the show "loose" meaning we don't know where we'll go during the 3 hours. That day was one of those shows.

Dom was asked to call a hotel - genuine. Chris found out that he'd called a German head office the same time the audience did live on air. Whether Dom meant to call Germany or not is down to you, he swears blind he didn't mean to!

Show/Review Clarification - Friday 10th June 2005

Following last Fridays Show Review, I contacted chrismoyles.net with regards to some content within the show and therefore in the review.

The excerpt in question is as follows:

"Back to the Big Brother chat (naturally) and we find out that Vanessa is Aled's new favourite, but Chris hates her [..], but Aled would love her to be his mate, she's just the type of person who could be in his little clan - his irritating friend clan, that is. Like the one Chris 'clashed' with on the Radio 1 roadshow one year (Mr. Irritating Mate got kicked off subsequently, in case you were wondering)."

First of all, its not totally true that Chris and I clashed. When Aled introduced me to Chris, I said "hello" and he turned to Aled and said "Is this your mate? He's a bit of a dog isn't he?"

Given that I am about the same age as Chris, and at the time he was relatively new to the R1 DJ line up, I felt his response was inappropriate and rude. My reaction was basically to turn my nose up and walk off. We didn't really speak again for the rest of the tour - but this is hardly a "clash".

Secondly, I wasn't kicked off any Roadshow. In fact I was on three or four seperate roadshows with Aled, all subsequent to this "clash". I got on well with the rest of the production team, and we have a good laugh when I see them at other R1 events.

Chris and I have been re-introduced at various occasions since, and there is no bad feeling between us, in fact he never remembers who I am until he is reminded that we've met before.

Whilst I appreciate that good radio comes from amusing anecdotes and having fun on-air, I felt that this particular conversation was embarassing for both Aled and myself, and wanted to put the record straight for both of us.

Don't blame the reviews mate, they're supposed to be an accurate reflection on the show... If you don't like the humour, er, don't listen.

Yeah, don't blame the reviewer. But fair enough.

From email discussions we've had I don't think the poster was intending to blame the reviewer, he just wanted to set the record straight and felt that this was a good place to do it.

If I was Aled I'd be more embarassed you felt the need to post some 'clarification' (in a press release style) instead of laughing it off.

So, this happened in 1997 and you've let it bother you ever since?

OK thanks, good to know. Does anyone have the cat[…]
