For all those missing Wes- ive found out about his next project-
Podshows.com

Full Details below:
UK DJs backing podcasting outfit
DJs Paul Gambaccini and Tony Blackburn are backing a new website offering radio shows for digital audio players.

Podshows will offer shows to download to iPods and other players for between 49p and 99p each.

Gambaccini, Blackburn, Steve Penk and former Radio 1 DJ Wes Butters are among the hosts lined up.

The BBC and Virgin Radio already offer shows via "podcasting", but only using shows which have already been broadcast on radio.

Butters, who set up the £50,000 venture with former Virgin Radio DJ Daryl Denham, will present Top 40 rundowns of the UK albums and single charts.

The chart shows, which will be available at 1900 on Sundays, will initially be available via an internet stream.

However, listeners will be able to download the rundowns once licensing deals have been finalised with the major record companies.

Technology

Gambaccini will present classical and jazz chart shows, while Blackburn will host his own 1970s music programme.

TV presenter Terry Christian will present a programme devoted to 1990s music, while there will be daily updates from Michael Jackson's child abuse trial in Santa Maria, California.

Ten shows will be made available initially, with further podcasts to follow spanning comedy, sport and specialist interests.

The Podshows catalogue will also include travel guides, audio books and documentaries.

Half-hour programmes will cost 49p, while hour-long music shows will cost 99p.

Thousands of podcasts are now available from around the world, many made by amateurs about niche subjects.

"In two years' time this is the way people will consume radio," Denham said.

"Soon everybody will have the technology to get these shows and consume them," added Butters.

WILL IT CATCH ON? Only time can tell. (Is it worth 99p?)

Why download a chart show when you can listen to one anyway. If they considered doing proper shows instead then I think it may catch on but I'm unsure tbh

his pop knowledge is second to none though. on one of the saddo pub quiz teams that travel around winning everywhere he would be the music specialist supreme.

Wes is in the Manchester Evening News today about this new chart thing, he also has a bit of a pop at JK and Joel, saying they haven't brought anything to the chart, and he doesn't like the way they slag off all the records, as apparently "he never used to do that".

I'm with him on this one, bitterness maybe, and I don't quite know what he's on about, I just don't like JK and Joel.

God he is bitter. I used to think he was alright but he should get over it.

What did Wes himself ever bring to the chart? He lost like a million listeners so they are obviously going for a new format - personality presenters who give opinions on the music, and don't just play it. Although I've confessed many times I'm a big fan of JK and Joel, I still think the new style regardless is much better now than it was before.

Not that it really matters anyway cos the charts are fixed as we all know. or at least will be when the downloads come in.

The chuckle brothers have done what for the chart? the new format... no that was probably some BBC boss that came up with the changes.

Actually being entertaining? err no again....

Playing some great music... no thats the whole point of the chart... I miss Mark Goodier doing the chart, I really do...

If you miss Mark Goodier so much then switch over to The Smash Hits Chart.

Simple really.

No, you swing both ways.

I'm sure Wes is gay, I thought someone said on this board once, but I can't find it now.

Genius wes, going to slag JK and Joel off in Manchester, where people love them due to the fact they were massive at Key 103...

JK and Joel are good though.. like them lots on the chart

If you're interested (and I doubt many will be) theres a very interesting 35 minute segment on Listen Again about downloads joining the chart. It's taken from Phil Williams's show on Five Live and Joel is one of the guests. As too bizarrely is Oxide from Oxide & Neutrino... not sure why.

Dammit JK and Joel seem to be guesting on just about everything lately as well as doing the chart... wasn't it last week or earlier this one that one of them guested on Scott Mills? (may have been Vernon Kay at weekend come to think of it....)

Well the BBC want to make as much use of them as they can so they can get their "moniesworth" - and since they are only on one day a week they try to fit them elsewhere.

Here's an idea - dont put them on the bloody chart in the first place

OK thanks, good to know. Does anyone have the cat[…]
