Weekend duo to replace Mark and Lard

Colin and Edith it is then.

That's quite surprising. I do like listening to their show but I thought Scott Mills would get the gig. He must be getting Cox's drivetime show permanently after she has her baby otherwise I can't see Parfitt's thinking here.

I was listening to Newsbeat this afternoon specifically for this story and heard Georgina say that Mark and Lard's successors would be announced in March. Good to see Newsbeat on top form again then...

I don't think that's actually been announced yet. Radio1 online doesn't have no info on it and that also says succesor will be announced in March along with BBC entertainment.

Edith Bowman and Colin Murray will replace BBC Radio 1's comedy DJ duo Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley when they quit the station after 10 years, the BBC announced today.

When though, it wasn't on newsbeat at 5:45 and that article was published at 4:15pm. Don't always believe everything you read in a newspaper, or website in this case.

It does say on the bbc news that 'Colin Murray and Edith Bowman are expected to land daily slot' though.

When Coxy goes on maternity (and hopefully longer), the Schedule will be great for a few months... Mark and Lard and Coxy are the only DJ's I dislike at Radio 1.

Nemone - Moyles - Whiley - Colin and Edith - Scott Mills is a great line up to me. Couldnt have asked for it much better

Very, very, sad news. With the exits of Mark and Lard, the remaining intelligent wit and articulation at Radio 1 disappears. Their presence will be sorely missed.

I don't what's worse, that they're leaving, or who Radio 1 are replacing them with. Colin f****** Murray and Edith Bowman - the most talentless pairing possibly ever to grace radio airwaves. They have no discernible chemistry and Murray's ego is so bloody huge, he always talks over Edith.

Another nail in Radio 1's coffin. Radio 2 doesn't seem so unappealing now...

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The only thing I can see happening now is that Scott Mills will get the 3pm-5.45pm slot when Sara Cox is off, then will continue in that slot, whilst JK and Joel get his weekend slot.

If that doesn't happen then i'd be surprised.

To be truthfully honest, I couldnt care what happens on Radio 1. Other than Moyles, radio 1 is gash. Mills is alright-ish.

I'm more interested to see what happens at Radio 2. I think Mark Radcliffe would be brilliant in Alice Richardsons slot - and Alice himself should be promoted. But as suggested above, I think they would be making a mistake to get rid of Bruce. Kennedy needs to go - she is the definition of gash.
