Thank you for the input Guys (n Gals). You raise some valid points, namely not shooting myself in the foot for the sake of loyalty - which you are probably correct in saying would not be reciprocated....

Will 'ave a quiet word here, give them a chance to offer something extended, if not, well.....

Today I am annoyed by other people in shops whilst I am trying to get my Christmas shopping done. How dare they be there getting in my way.

Getting a parking ticket whilst dashing to get Carol-oke tickets - that guy must've had a field day!

Tim.

Well done mate.

It's not the right decision in my mind, but I admire the fact you took the hard choice because you felt it was right. But seriously, if you do not feel that this new offer is not good enough to dump a three month contract for, then what you are actually saying is you would rather stay on in current role as it's interesting work, and if you stay on you might get offered more work then great.

You know whats right, best of luck to you.

And you have hit the nail on the head with the counter argument. This new place didn't really stop me in my tracks and think 'wow, I wanna work here'. The project itself would be a step back, certainly (Stadium V's Student Accom). And you are right, although i'm currently contracted till Feb, it may well be extended - and I've already had great feedback so far on my output in the last 6/7 weeks.

So, on one hand I have a twelve month contract offer, on the other hand.... The project i'm currently working on, IF things go through to the next stage, and so on, there is potentially another two or three years work just on this one project. With possible site visits - abroad.

Its not completely black n white in Feb V's Dec...

Oh yeah, no point hiding behind a fog of lies. I needed to leave work early to achieve interview, so had to fess up. If nothing else, it might give me more ammo to justify a few extra £'s come contract renewal time. Maybe...

I dunno.... Its Christmas, time for getting drunk, not stressing about Jazz like this.

And of course if you can get the current contract extended - or at least a reasonably firm assurance that it WILL be - as that is the work you want to do, stay! I didn't realise there was that possibility, it muddies the water somewhat. But at least you can talk to them about your dilemma and you never know, do you?

My boss (here, now) has confirmed he would like to keep me, assuming either this job goes to the next stage or I can be used on another project (they also do Healthcare here which I specialise in).

But, a desire to keep me on, and a signed agreement aren't the same. I have at least asked them the question, what additional security can they offer, we'll see.

The post seems to be especially bad this year. I've spent the entire past week taking calls from customers who haven't received their tickets/vouchers yet. And I ordered something last Thursday which hasn't turned up yet - bearing in mind the last first class posting date was only Tuesday.

Royal Mail changed one of the sorting servers and everything has backed up because it didnt work! They have taken on people to manually sort it, but as most of them are un-skilled shaven chimps, it means lots of stuff is being sent to the wrong depots

I've had no problems here at all, even stuff I only ordered this week has already turned up. And something my mum put in the post to me yesterday arrived this morning.

I think its things from the last couple of weeks that have backed up, most things sent this weeks should be fine

I don't like New Years Eve. It makes me anxious whichever way I look and I end up feeling depressed.

Although thankfully saved myself money I just found out today that you can't have a Blu-Ray player if you have a CRT Television, I was going to purchase one but a friend warned me off a particular brand, when I looked into another Blu-Ray player I found out that they don't have scart leads on them any more, only HDMI leads, which means I'll have to buy a new TV if I want a Blu-Ray player, buggery :(

Adapters for HDMI cables to a scart socket are cheap & readily available at any electric store. They should do the trick.
