the sight of a clean-shaven chris moyles today...made me remember of a sacrifice I might have to make once I get a job. And as crazy as it seems I can't stand spending a day without a beard.

Doesn't seem so much crazy as incongruous - why on earth would getting a job mean not being allowed to have a beard? Unless its a job as an aftershave tester I suppose......

In Portugal not many sectors in the job market allow their workers to grow facial hair...and it doesn't help that the main sectors here are Tourism and Bar&Kitchen :/

Oh dear - well, hopefully you'll find a more enlightened employer! I approve of beards. On men anyway.

I have a beard....otherwise I would look like a 12 year old and Mrs Duck wont let me shave.

She doesn't like the thought of being seen with a 6ft4 12 year old!

Mr Yudster grew a beard about three years ago. I didn't like it at first, but on the few occasions since that he's shaved it off, I couldn't wait for it to grow again. He looked like a little fat-faced baby without it, whereas with it he looks yummy.

First day back at work today. Working in Birmingham and the train travel is horrid. Didn't enjoy the walking in the wind and rain for 20 mins either. Ah well only a week and a half until I leave!

Not do much annoying me as upsetting me is the sudden death of my great aunt, a funny, motivating, inspirational woman who was close to the hearts of several, including me. RIP.

Sorry John, losing someone you love is grim. Best wishes to you and the rest of your family.

Best wishes John, sorry to hear that :( I haven't had to experience anything like that yet (luckily), so I can't really imagine what it must be like. RIP.

I'm sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with you. I have lost about 2 family members, but both when I was really young, so I cant really tell you how to cope with it, but I know it is difficult.

Anyway, the thing annoying me today is this: I lost this game loads of time in the past, so reorded it (again) :http://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=5030930024963 (its really addicting!)

Ordered it last Saturday, and they only dispatched it yesterday:( Beginning to lose my patience with it.

I know what you mean. I still feel like a complete newbie at my job - well I AM a complete newbie at it. But its almost Christmas and I started here on February 1st. Where the hell did 2010 go?!

I know, alarmingly 17th October was my 8th year at my job, I think I need to find another job in the new year, the atmosphere in our office is awful now, people argue with each other, swearing is rife and several of the girls have cried recently due to stress & arguing. 8 years ago it wasn't a bad office to work in and we all got on and had a laugh & a joke as well as doing our work, since we relocated last year it's become awful :(

Things are pretty bad at my work too. What was a theatre has insidiously become a call centre and I hate it. I have more responsibility and hassle for no more money - well, less when you take inflation into account. There's just nothing out there tho. Often I think I should consider myself lucky to have a job at all.

And if that helps you get through the day, nic, stick with it. As you say, things are pretty bad at the moment for anyone who fancies a change of job. I'm in Architecture which has been hit pretty bad, so I'm just pleased to still be earning. Few of my friends (same trade) who were made redundant have ended up moving abroad to work; 2 gone to Aus, one to viet-frikkin-naaaaaam.

Think of it as earning 'wine vouchers' instead of working.
