Ok, can we finally get to the end of viv's incompetence with posting, she's not exactly a newbie at it is she?
Right viv - the easiest way to put anything in Bold/italic is -

1.)Click on the 'Post Reply' button.
2.)Type out the words that you would like to put in your reply using the keyboard.
3.)Decide which words you would like in Bold/Italic.
4.)Select the word(s) by clicking directly before or after the word(s) and keeping the mouse button pressed down.
Drag the cursor (the point that you control with your mouse) over the word(s) that you would like to be in bold/italic. You will notice that a black rectangle will appear around the word, and the word will be displayed in white. (Don't worry, this is not permanent!).
5.)Release the mouse button.
6.)Look at the top of the square where you are typing. There are some Icons. The very first square has a black 7 in it. This is what you press if you want a word to be bold. Make sure that you word(s) are 'selected' (Have a black box around them). If not, repeat from stage 4. When the word(s) are selected, click on the B icon. If you wish a work it be in italis, press the i instead.

Congratulations! You have learnt how to successfully put your comments in Bold or Italics.

That's because you're using the quick-reply tool at the bottom of the page. If you click on the 'Post Reply' or quote buttons, then you get taken to the proper posting page (the one the quick reply's preview button takes you to).

Are they playing as their live band or DJing? If they're DJing they'll probably only play a couple of their own tracks. That said, I thought they were pretty good as a live band too.

Something called Salary Sacrifice from my pension company which I don't understand! I think it means I'll be paying more to get the same return, that can't be good! Where's Boboff when I need him?!

Live, unfortunately, I'll just listen to proper drum'n'bass on my mp3 player when they're on. I would go to the bar but that wouldn't be a good idea just before running 10km

Are you sure it's not "celery sacrifice", kill some veg in the name of the elder gods in order to get a bit more cash in your old age?

I used to do salary sacrifice for part of my chidcare costs. Basically it meant that my employers paid a chunk of my childcare direct, took the money from my pay packet BUT - I didn't pay tax on that amount. So there is a bit of net gain.

I get that but they're upping my contributions from 5% to 6.2% to make up some shortfall somewhere else. In other words they've given me a payrise and are taking some of it back :?

Here they do childcare vouchers or something, which is effectively the same thing.

Surely that means you're just paying a bit more for it that you're not getting taxed for?

I'm not sure Topher. I have no choice but to up my contribution and I can't really see the benefit and it's all in that "figurative accountant" speak which makes me worry.

Annoying me today (well, it was annoying me yesterday as well, but I only really mentioned it to Yudwuk) is that my sister's * useless * of an arsehole boyfriend has been 'made redundant'.

There's no one lower than that man at the moment.

Viv - see the button that says "preview" at the bottom of the big white box you are typing in? If you click that, it lets you see what you are about to post, giving you the chance to edit it before you put it on the board.

If you use it, then you may look slightly less like a * imbecile.

is that button still there?

The only time I used it was when a viral told me to put something like George Bush in and it came back with a comedy page.

(it doesnt still work, for those about to try)
