The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

........ add to that he was tired and its a complete spanner in the works. So I think Chris Rock is the kind of guy - like me, who only comes alive at night time.

Thats might well be true, but he's should still be professional enough to actually be awake for an appearance on a national radio show. If he's not going to bother to do that, why come? He doesn't get paid for it, and as Chris pointed out, his tour is already sold out, he doesn't need the publicity. I can only imagine his ego likes the idea that the second most listened to radio show in the UK asked him to appear. Well, I don't imagine it'll be asking him again.

I've just heard the interview, and it's not as bad as I thought it would have been (after reading the comments here). Granted, it's far from the best guest appearance on the show, but there were funny moments, and Chris Rock did seem to get more comfortable later on.

I thought it was funny too, in places. I was quite surprised by just how upset Chris & team got over it. And Jo Whiley was talking about it too. Bizarre indeed this morning. :?

From the sound of it there was stuff going on with "the entourage" which must have got people's backs up.

The bit when he said he listened via Sirrius on his computer, you'd think that would've given him a head start. When hes on stage hes magic, alive, funny and outrageous, easy to forget they enjoy switching off completely once they're out of their own territory, which is a shame.

....but he's should still be professional enough to actually be awake for an appearance on a national radio show.

Far from it was he prepared for anything, I blame that woman..

He might aswell have been dragged from his bed beforehand, blindfolded, bundled into a van and driven to Radio 1, then manhandled, forced into stress positions, and subjected to sensory deprivation - all at the hands of his seemingly aggressive entourage.

Hmm.. I don't see what's so funny about him. Maybe his sense of humour is too American for me.

Chris Moyles.... try asking your guests some questions about what activities they are currently involved in

His tour was sold out so he had nothing to promote. It was always going to be just a 'chat' as such.

I heard the listen few minutes this morning on the way to work and he did seem very tired etc. I then heard Chris and co talking how it didnt go too well etc.

However I have just listened to it on Listen Again and I thought he wasnt too bad.

However hearing Aled talk about his "posse" and had rude they were i think he deserved a low score.

Despite my earlier comments, I didn't think that the interview was THAT bad either.

The thing is Chris Rock has every right to be tired (or just not in the right frame of mind to be up for entertaining people) at any time of day, and criticising him as soon as he has left the room, when he has no comeback doesn't seem fair. (or the kind of thing that should be happening on national radio)

Fair enough he is getting paid to be on the show, but on air I thought he was polite and quite funny at times...

In any case the show is run by Chris Moyles, if he doesn't think an interview is going well then he should be flexible / adaptable enough to think on his feet and work with the guest that he has got.

He shouldn't go into a bad mood and start criticising the guest (or their entourage) when they have left the building/room(at least not on air), (he probably realised it has just been a bad interview and unfortunately his reaction is to blame the departed guest)

Anyway, on-air criticism of departed guests seems far too one-sided.

If they are going to criticise the guest, then either do it off air, or record the entourages' comments and let the listeners be a party to the whole thing. (I'm no fan of rude people and hearing some pre madonna complaining to the backroom staff would probably make good radio. )

I see what you mean, but Moyles is no mug and if he doesn't get on with a person, or feels they've been unfair, then he's going to say. Rock's entourage should, in my opinion, have researched Moyles a bit and at least found this out in the process.

I doubt they had the bits that Aled was saying about on tape and in any case, I'm sure they would need permission from the people involved, were they to broadcast something that wasn't directly recorded for broadcast? Though I could be wrong.

I see your point, me1000 but Moyles is always honest about the guests and it seemed that he was being told about the entourages behaviour by aled at the same time as the listeners. It has been a subject of previous conversations and he has pointed out how much he dislikes guests who treat the backstage staff with a lot less respect than they do the on air folk.

Hang on, Chris said he was partly to blame for it, he made no bones about that, and he also said it wasn't a terrible interview, just a bit of a lackluster interview, hence Chris gave him a score of 5 out of 10, ie average.

Also I've interviewed some people who have just been appauling, they gave 1 word answers or just seemed really disinterested in the whole thing no matter what tack I've tried.

Also the fact that it was said that Colin Murray had a bad time with him as well and that Chris was discussing bad interviews with Jo at the end of the show I think proves that guests can be bad despite the best efforts of the interviewer. Meg Ryan on Parky was also mentioned and you can't exactly say Parky was a bad interviewer.

Sometimes guests just don't perform as you'd like them to, they may be having an "off" day but it's their reputation that's on the line. 8M people listen to Moyles, most of them listen becuase they like Him rather than Chris Rock, so while the interview wasn't great, it's done Chris's Rock's reputation more damage than it's done Chris Moyles'

I think Chris did his best but it was missing something. I know Chris Rock has every right to be tired etc. Chris did say several times that we was very nice and charming etc and still likes him. He just thought the interview didnt go well.

Some guests just seem to get the humour and get involved more such as Davina or Will Smith.

As they always so if you dont like Chris change the channel - go to some cheesy commercial radio or something. Anyway .....

(Have you just registered to moan??)

As Yuds has previously stated, it seems to be more the entourage that have been the problem. And the atmosphere created by them. O, and the woman who swore at Aled.

It contains a promise that the Chris Moyles show will next week be a completely 100% Chris Rock - free zone. Amongst other things. There was a desert wind, the sound of tumbleweeds and a tolling bell at one point too.........

having just listened to the interview, I would agree with whoever has said that it was alright - granted I was expecting more laughs and more things to get ofcom upset, but it was certainly not the worst interview i've heard.

The main problem seems to stem from the backstage problems. And him being knackered.

Late into this but I agree that Chris Rock didn't get Chris at all, I thought he sounded like he was stoned (sure he wasn't and just sounded that way). I didn't hear it all as I had to get out of the car but to be honest, for the first time listening to Chris I was glad that I did.

I also agree that the funniest line was when CR said the thought we brits drink so much we think darts is a sport, it's a thought I have often had.

The trail for next week is hilarious I'm so glad it wasn't just us that thought CR was dull.

I thought he meant Before Madonna complaining to back stage staff. Like "wasn't Guy Richie nicer before he got married" Kind of complaining.

P.s. Is that picture you Ice T? You look like Carl Pilkington

Apparently the darts thing is from his standup show...I read about it in this morning's Metro.
