Johnny 1989 wrote:Yep I hate that as well, there's about 6-12 friends of mine who update about 5-6 times a day, most about how much they hate their job or how they know who their true friends really are.

I very rarely go on Facebook these days, everyone wants you to join a group, add a game, etc. it was just better a couple of years back.

it's this kind of gash i can't stand - and what i'll hope to provide a 'solution' to (theoretical solution) to include in my book when applying for ad-jobs.

1 status update a day, unless something actually really interesting happens (winning something, meeting someone famous, or injury)

and with regards to current events : make the update unique, or there will be a million others saying exactly the same thing

also : edit the things which come up on your profile every now and again! if you write on 4 people's walls there's this endless stream of "XXXXX wrote on YYYYY's wall" and joining groups etc.

bleh. MANY pet hates.

ALSO! unless you and your partner rarely talk/see each other, purvey ANY messages of affection you have through private media.

urgh, going to stop now before i drive myself mad

Has changing your password not helped already? That did the trick when the same thing happened to me.

EDIT: Oops, that was for chrysostom. Sorry!

Erm I don't think that will help here...we sold our tv for 300 pound to buy things for the baby, we recieved payment on paypal and now after it has been picked up they are saying it was used with a hacked account and sellers aren't really covered by anything.

No, my account has not been hacked, we sold a TV on Ebay and someone bought it. Basically they put through the Paypal funds and sent a van to pick it up - the funds were there (albeit held, but we looked that up and it said it was normal for funds to be held for a period of 21 days if you have very little seller history), so I let the driver take it... then after he left, it came up as a dispute on the account that they'd used someone else's Paypal account and this morning it's come up that he's used someone else's Ebay account and they've deleted the listing - so now we have no TV, no money and I'm extremely pissed off.

Well sometimes people sell one product honestly to get 100% positive feedback then start the dirty business...

I was going to write about being pissed about going back to school but compared to that it's not quite as bad as I thought...

Follow ebay procedure for things like this, did the buyer have high level of feedback?

Yeah, Ebay's standard recommendation for if we have already despatched the goods is that we contact the Police and get a crime number and tell them Ebay will co-operate fully with them. Paypal, though, (who are owned by Ebay) are not recommending that we contact the Police until they complete their investigation, but stuff that - it's definitely dodgy, I'm getting on to the Police at lunchtime.

Oh and about the feedback, he only had four to be fair, but three were recent and good feedback - this morning the same account has just one level of feedback - Ebay have deleted all the recent listings as the account was being used by an unauthorised person. One of the guys who had sold something to him has got in contact with me, he's sold a telly too and has had to get a crime number.

Seems to me like you have been scammed then, but Paypal I feel sure should be able to get you your money, but it will take time. If Ebay and this other guy have a crime number your right to get one I think.

Paypal reckon we're not protected because the item is despatched though - the money will go back to the rightful owner of the Paypal account I'd imagine. Ah I dunno, I'll ring and get a crime number and see what the police say.

Gawd what a hassle - we wouldn't have even sold the * thing if we didn't need the money!

See now the thing is that the guy at the police station who logged the crime for me (I don't think he was a police officer, just an admin bod) said that there have been a spate of very similar recent incidents. He's passed our details on to the officer investigating.

Paypal seem to say in their terms and conditions that we are not protected if the item was collected; I think that's disgusting and honestly, I'll be arguing that if they try to throw it at me - I don't care how high I go, I'll go to Watchdog or anything if I need to, I'm * fuming.

What a *, sorry to here that Topher & Cat, hope the * get caught. I do use eBay but because of stories I've heard before, I never normally buy anything too expensive on there, just in case & never sold anything expensive, that was to be collected in case something like that happened.

Hope it all gets sorted.

Well, other than making Ebay millions, that was my impression too.

The point of paypal is that you do not have to give your credit card or bank details to the seller.

The protection is for the buyer not the seller.

Its far too easy and far too annoying to say what could have been done to protect yourself as a seller, needless to say there but for the grace etc....
