I've seen that guy before, I'm sure he was on Dave Gorman's Genius recently, certainly looks like him (can't remember what his invention was though.

I heard somewhere that the daily fail never had a story about Haiti on their front page - ever. Hardly surprising.

Oh and that repulsive little maggot Littlejohn is spewing his bile again now it's election time.

Yes, but it's a dangerous publication because lots don't ignore it. It's an utterly abhorrent, scummy paper and people should know about the lies it spreads.

I'm all for exposing truths, especially to people who aren't aware of them, but I've noticed recently that the opposition to the DM has become rather obsessive, viral and often self-congratulatory rather than with genuine positive intent. Basically I'm just sick of hearing about that paper, and I certainly don't envy those who allow themselves to get so wound up about it.

Those are just my feelings on it though. As you were.

Ignoring something bad is the best way to make sure it flourishes. Pretending the Daily Mail doesn't exist is the best way to enable it and its malice to grow.

I feel, charla, that you've left your PC on and everything logged in somewhere:

from twitter:

charlalottie: just got r@ped by a sock-puppet. God it was good.

and from facebook:

Charlalottie is so very horny for sock-puppets. Just to feel their cottony goodness on my skin gives me shivers of delight.

Charlalottie became a fan of Sock Puppets RULE!!

Charlalottie joined the group cotton fetish.

Charlalottie joined the group Gay Men's Sock Fetish.

Charlalottie joined the group GUYS FEET & SOCK FETISH.

hmm....

If no-one talks about the filth they spew, and protests at the assumption that it represents "our" views, then sooner or later that assumption will become fact in some form or another. That's why we keep moaning about it on here and, I hope, in other places too.

Can't we just use my highly philosophical argument and say that ALL papers are shit?

I'm with Foots on this one, I stopped buying papers about 7-9 months ago & don't miss them at all, I found myself getting less wound up over things in the news, just because I stopped reading papers, however work has now sadly replaced that.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't have an interest in the news. I'm just saying that they should choose their sources very carefully and be cynical about the sources they trust. And newspapers are not a good source.

I would probably buy The Guardian if it was published in tabloid size and The Independent is not bad. But the BBC is better than both.

I don't read newspapers much either. Like Johnny I'm sort of at a point right now where I like to avoid anything that will rile me as feel my head is full enough already, which is probably where my aversion to joining in the ranting about papers comes from.

If I do find myself in a situation where I need to choose a paper (e.g. getting on a BA flight, being bored in a coffee house) it's usually The Times, and I really couldn't give a damn if it's owned by big bad evil Mr Murdoch. I've never come across anything as controversial in that paper as I have in the Guardian or Telegraph. Speaking of which, I've also enjoyed articles from both of those as well, albeit usually online.

I find it better to just pick and choose as I go and not feel affiliated with any particular paper. As long as I avoid the tabloids.

And yes, the only news source I do rely on and use regularly is the BBC.

You'll be quite happy to pay for the online version come June?

I like The Independent but its such a crap bloated website, they have some unbiased commentators though. I agree about the Guardian, it can feel like they sometimes over-egg the pudding on the lefty agenda at times, I like a paper that keeps an open mind. I still read the Charlie Brooker stuff, even though he babbles on about technology way too much.

As for the Metro, 60 seconds is pretty much the only readable bit, it takes me about 30 seconds to scan through that bloody paper if I have no interest in the person featured. Jason Manford was on it recently, he was slagging off Burger King and there was an advert for it on the opposite page.

I had forgotten about that.

Actually I rarely read Times Online, unless I'm directed to something interesting on it, so I doubt I would pay. I'm more likely to actually buy a copy of it if I need something to read, to be honest.

Not long now. A girl in my office is 21/22 weeks and she only felt the first movements at the weekend - that's pretty late, Cat will feel them before that. You probably won't though - it takes a little while before any movement is strong enough to be felt externally. What's even more amazing is the first time you see your (or your partner's) belly moving - its like there are aliens in there!

Can you actually see the belly move?! Wow!!

Yep - you'll see the whole outline of the baby moving around, and the occasional fist or foot sticking out! Its cool, in a grotesque kind of way!

Its a very odd feeling and I can remember being quite emotional the first time I felt a kick!
