Well after one of the worst work days, ever, finally two things made me smile today, 1) that Arsenal won again (yes that wasn't a penalty, and our player was a lucky bastard) and 2) my trip to Hong Kong is finally booked :D :D :D even better due to the days the flights fall on, I'm away from work for... 17 days, ah I've earnt this break this year (haven't had a full week off all year, this long time away from work will hopefully calm my stress down & I may start liking my job again!)

Jill, I really hope this works out for you - you've done brilliantly to get this well ahead of the game so fast anyway, you'll clearly be ok very soon whatever happens here. Best of luck.

Aww thanks Yudster, nice of you to say. I hope it works out too. I've had a pretty bad summer, so i hope it ends in a nice way. Shall find out tomorrow! Fingers crossed

Doves, Editors, Calvin Harris, Reverend & The Makers, The Futureheads, Ocean Colour Scene and The Zutons

Sounds cool.

This is good, Google marking the 51st birthday that never was, oh, and the burial that never was either.

Also making me smile, Charlie Brooker reinforcing Chris and Dave's opinion about X Factor's new series:

Times article on the Spa track

'Murray Walker, with the robust emphasis for which he is famous, called it “the worst start to a grand prix I have seen in the whole. Of. My. Life.” He. Was. Not. Kidding.

In 1998, during a thick downpour, the race at Spa-Francorchamps produced a first-turn, 13-car encyclopaedia of carnage, with giant bits of bounding rubber, formerly tyres, appearing through a blizzard of car parts, amid cries of “Who put that corner there?” and “David Coulthard — what are you doing in my *?” Ten cars were irreparably damaged and the cleaners were hoovering up bits of carbon fibre for an hour.'

I like that, apparently a lot of comic fans are really pissed off about the takeover. It don't bother me, as long as Spiderman doesn't start doing dance tuens, a la High School Musical.

1. The Metrolink tram service has been appalling this week and the powers that be have actually admitted it (first time in my memory, and I've been using them for 8yrs) and given everyone free travel until Monday.

2. I went to the opening of the new Holland & Barret store and cos I spent £15, they gave me another £15 worth of stuff for free.

3. My colleague who also works as a trolley dolly brought me back five boxes of vegan cereal bars from the US, 30 bars in all different flavours for £18 (buying them from a UK site, that much cash would get me maybe eight bars).

So despite the fact that it's heaving down with rain (as always in Manc), today's been quite good for me.

Toph - I'm sure the rest of that is funny, but I cannot bear to wait on my USB internet for it to load. I do want to punch that fat, greedy, spoilt little prick though. Americans, whaddeya gonna do?

Also, making me smile today - I've got 1 day left of work experience for journalism and I've really enjoyed it. I'm definitely gonna think about going into the media, I just hope when I get my feedback tomorrow I haven't been * terrible...
