Well done Cat, I couldn't be more proud of you if I actually had a right to be!

I couldn't be more proud (and nor could I have been more nervous yesterday) either. Fantastic day.

Well Done Cat! That is excellent. Mrs B is in her third year of adult nursing and she loves it, lots of poo and willies!

No its not. If I left it until December to think about Christmas I'd never get things done how I want to.

I understand that but decorations (which, in a forum sense, avatars are included in) and songs are definitely best left until December.

Why? You don't like to smile? Misery!

Christmas isn't the only thing that makes me smile! I have plenty of other things to keep me smiling up until Christmas.

I know, but being determined to NOT smile about something which is a perfectly harmless, friendly, happy and cheerful thing seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face (as my old granny would have said).

Some people get annoyed at things that make other people happy which they themselves view as unnecessary. I do it too, but about different things.

I love Christmas. As far as I'm concerned it can start as early as it likes (as long as it isn't still warm outside).

I avoid getting too Christmassy before December though, so as to keep the association (as in associative emotions, or whatever you call it) more concentrated and sacred. If that makes any sense.

It does make sense indeed. The real Christmas stuff only starts when i get the arrangements for the choral piece I have to co-ordinate for church. If I'm lucky, that might be sooner than 48 hours before the performance......that's when it starts being exciting as well as cheery.

Ooh, you've just reminded me of the University carol service. Amazing stuff. Much better than the mediocre one in my (Catholic) church, although I still like that one for the familiar faces I get to share it with.

The office stuff is in full force too... I'm not much of a secret santa fan, but at least this year I didn't get a man! :D

Describe the effect you anticipate this gift will have on him, then I'll know what to think about that.

it's a her - the limit was £6 and the other day she was saying how Frankie Boyle was her favorite panelist on Mock the Week and it's a shame that he's leaving.

a desirable effect would be happiness and/or mirth

Well I like that gift very much in that case. I would also have liked it if your boss had been a Daily Mail reader with a loud voice and outspoken views on "so called comedy". But this is good too.
