That implies that everyone who IS part of that religion should be allowed to finish early. Thanks!

Depends whether you're offering services exclusively to those part of that religion or not. And if you are, you're discriminating against other religions and have bigger issues.

I must be impervious to his Christmasness. He's only on when I'm in the shower now cos my shower radio is a pain to change the frequency.

Just tune into Thistle FM or whatever it is you have up there, don't get drawn into the power of the Mills! ;)

Glad to have been of service :D

I'm in two minds whether or not to capture Chappers last show, I mean I like him & Tulip & don't mind Becky but Mills is an arse. Oh sod it may do anyway.

Annoying me today, National Express East Anglia. Not only were the trains delayed this morning, all metro trains (Shenfield-Liverpool Street in both ) were all running off of one platform (the one that takes you to Liverpool Street), even more annoying was that no one at Seven Kings station even bothered to sodding inform us, twunts :x

I would, but then it would be pain in the arse to fix when Chris is back.

That and the fact that Thistle FM (I'm using that to refer to all the local radio stations here) are all worse than Mills. And yes, I mean that. I don't care if Bowie at Breakfast does compete with Chris for "best breakfast show" awards, it's shite.

True, on both counts, have that problem in here with Hackney FM (what I call all Pirate stations) interfering with most of the other stations in London. Although 6 Music or Geoff Lloyd on Absolute Radio are rather good. Didn't know Bowie did a breakfast show, or are you been sarky ;)

My back's been killing me for a week now. I thought I'd just slept funny, but it's getting worse instead of better, I think I'm gonna have to go to the doctors next week. I've got all sorts of pain relief sprays and rubs going on, but everytime I move it's agony. Bad times.

George Bowie.

"George describes himself as witty, sexy, big-nosed and barking". Sounds like a proper *.

Yeah, that's him. He is. He also does the announcements at Ibrox, so I don't like him for multiple reasons!

It's the Sonys he's nominated for along with Chris. No award this year where Chris got the bronze, but Bowie got the bronze in 2008 when Chris got the gold. http://www.radioawards.org/winners/?awi ... &year=2009

Ah I see, was going to say I couldn't imagine David Bowie doing a radio show

Annoying me today, I have caught a cold off of one of the girls in the office, now she was off sick on Tuesday but because our boss said she wouldn't get paid she had to force herself to come in. Not only that but apparently if I take a day off sick I won't get paid either, even though I haven't been off sick for FOUR years, some of our bosses are a right bunch of Twunts they really are. :x

There can't be many employers left who impose those terms and conditions. Surely you must at least be entitled to statutory sick pay, if not full pay? I can't think how they could legally deny you that, which makes me wonder if your employment contracts are all in proper order?

True enough. And a strong reason why, for all their problems, this country and its workers have an absolute and genuine need for the trades unions to be strong.

You can contact HR, but you get told by them that it's "at the managers discretion", spineless sods. Sadly we're owned by a US firm so trade unions are a no-no. Plus I've changed jobs twice since I last signed a contract & have been told we don't need to sign a new one because there's a clause in there that states "...and any other task your manager may require you to do", so any old shite in other words :x

Trade Unions have always been difficult. In America, they often got too big and were infiltrated by organised criminals like the Mafia. I believe New York's unions were heavily controlled by the Mafia once upon a time, so much so that the Mafia would threaten dockland worker strikes if the authorities threatened to clamp down on the docks!

Unions in England paid for their power by being targeted and castrated by Thatcher :(

British unions are far from perfect, but the problems in them are due to ineptitude and inefficiency rather than organised crime thank goodness. There is the odd overly-politically ambitious person who imposes a personal agenda to the detriment of the whole system, and thats never good, but we are definitely far better off with them than without.

Johnny, don't let them tell you that being an American company precludes their workers from representation by a trades union, that's utter rubbish. They are trading in England and subject to British trading and employment laws, and you ARE entitled to be a union member and to benefit from union representation and advice. You should contact a suitable union - even if you aren't a member they will advise you free of charge - and get one of their legal people to look at your terms and conditions. And if you are working without a current employment contract, your employer is acting illegally and needs to rectify that. Without knowing more about the company I can't be more specific than that, but seems clear that your employer isn't exactly up to date with their employment practice.
